This story and everybody in it is a fantasy and over 18. Enjoy.
With nothing better to do that evening, he decided to show up at his friends pool party. He knew many of his old friends would be there and talk of his failed marriage was certain to come up. It was a year ago and although it still was a bit raw, he had to accept it. Both the divorce and the talk. He was glad to see so many of his friends and the party seemed to be a success.
There was a redhead he found himself drawn to. Overweight for certain but so cute and voluptuous that he barely noticed. He felt he was doing a good job of not staring or being obvious. He didn't want to seem like a perv or rude. It was some time after he had first begun watching her that she came over and stood by him.
She held her hand out to him and introduced herself. "I'm Patty."
"I'm Steve". He took her hand and shook it gently. He looked her in the eyes as he held her hand. Her beautiful, expressive, large brown eyes.
"The way you were watching me I wondered if we had met or you thought you knew me".
He was flustered at first. Had he been obvious? She had given him an easy out and he was tempted to take it like a drowning victim clings to their rescuer. "I did at first," He decided that honesty was the better choice. "Once I realized I didn't know you I just kept admiring the scenery. Trying to figure out how I could meet you. I hope I didn't come off as rude."
"Oh, not rude. I like being admired. That's why I wear this bikini. So you're back in the hunt? I hear you had a painful fall so to speak."
It took him a moment to respond. "Surprised as much as hurt."
"Lets get a drink. Go somewhere and talk." She continued to hold his hand and led him to the bar that had been set up. She mixed herself a Rum and Coke then asked him what he wanted.
"Bourbon. Neat."
Oh, one of those types huh?" She giggled and he found it charming. Like her. She had a very cute face. A turned up nose, big brown eyes, full cheeks, and a light complexion with freckles. He thought she looked very nice. She didn't seem to be easily offended or take herself too seriously. She handed him his Solo cup with his spirits in it and they taped them together.
"Cheers" they both responded and smiled at each other.
"So, did you really think you knew me at first?"
"No, I just liked what I saw and wanted to keep looking. Busted." he smiled at her.
"So you like the fatties?" He raised his eyebrows questioningly. "Heavy women." she responded. Again he raised his eyebrows.
"I don't know who considers you fat. I sure don't. I know Dr.s consider us all over weight. Gives them a reason to treat us. Ring their cash registers." He took a sip of his drink and let his eyes roam over her appreciatively. "I don't believe you're fat. I don't see rolls or wrinkles. I do see a voluptuous woman that I enjoy looking at."
"Aren't you the charmer. It must make you popular with a large chunk of the female population." She giggled again.
He grinned at her "I enjoy your giggle. It compliments your looks." He took another drink and looked into her big eyes. "I like voluptuous women. Especially redheads. I would rather a woman be 20 pounds overweight than 10 pounds under. Skinny women are not necessarily a turn on for me. If as you say a large number of women are pudgy, then so much the better for me. You Patty are not fat." He stared into her beautiful eyes for a bit longer. She looked away and when she looked back, he was still looking into her eyes.
"What? Stop staring at me!"
"I'm just looking at your beautiful eyes. They're amazing." He took another drink.
"I'm not used to having a man stare into my eyes. You're supposed to be looking down here!" She motioned to her bust and then giggled.
"I can certainly see why men would." His gaze drifted down to her impressive bust. Her swimsuit top gathered them together giving her impressive cleavage. "Wonderful." She giggled again.
"Your friends tell me your ex was a real bitch."
"Those are my friends. Her friends would probably tell a different story."
"You don't seem that bitter."
He took a long drink and paused before he began. "We both took good jobs a year into our marriage. I mean "Career" jobs. Great money, great perc's, upward mobility, but lots of responsibilities. I gained weight without the activities of my old job. She didn't like that. We both worked way too much overtime which left too little time with each other. We had money but no time together to enjoy it. What was important to us changed. Mia was model pretty. Always dressed in the latest fashions She had a gym membership and she used it. She used her looks to her benefit. I can't blame her for that. It really boosted her sales and the company loved that. Her career was on the rise."
He took another drink and continued. "I was in management. Telling people what to do and how to do it. I didn't like it. Still don't. It meant a lot of overtime and trying to control people. I am not a control freak. I like to tell my people what needs to be done and by when. If you hire good people and let them do their job, I believe all's well." He took another drink and looked at Patty. She seemed interested in his story so he continued.
"Sales will make promises that they know cannot be kept. Schedules that don't leave any room for mistakes to be corrected. Engineers will design things without talking to the shop to see if they can even be done. In the end, it's like trying to manage a train wreck, all you can do is try to minimize the damage. Not a good position to be in."
"We were both too tied up in our jobs to realize that we were not spending any quality time together. We became two ships passing in the night. We were both to blame for the inevitable collapse of our marriage. She became cold and not interested in my all to infrequent advances. I don't know if she cheated or not. In the end we both took the easy way out. When the lease came due on our apartment, we split up and filed for an uncontested divorce. We didn't have any kids or big bills between us so it was the logical solution."
"I was told she moved in with her boss." She looked into his eyes with genuine concern.
"3 months after our divorce. I have no idea what led up to that. If they were already involved, so be it. I do wish them peace and happiness. I sincerely hope they find what we are all looking for. I know I haven't." He finished his drink and looked at her and then out over the crowd. He was quiet for a time.
Patty watched him but he couldn't bring himself to return her gaze. When it started to become an awkward silence Patty asked "Can I freshen your drink?"
"No thanks. I don't want to get drunk. I've done plenty of that."
"Want to go some place? Maybe get down and dirty?" She giggled again.
"Damn, that's tempting. You're so damn sexy." He looked her in the big brown eyes. "I want to get to know you in so many ways." Their gaze held for a long time. He sensed it was an uncomfortable pause. "Can I have a rain check? Can I get your phone number?"
