It was finally Saturday and I get to go and see my bestfriend Jeff. My innards felt as if they were squirming with joy. I missed his stupid self so damn much. I mean we've only been friends since the fourth grade. We've gotten arrested together, laughed together, cried together. I'll admit I never expected to do what we did together...
"How'd your interview go?" I asked Jeff through the phone.
I was on my way to his house, we planned on getting impossibly stoned. After all, its been a year since we've hung out so we both planned on making the best of it.
"Dude, It went surprisingly well. I was so nervous." Jeff said with relief in his voice. "Hey, you almost here?" He asked impatiently before I could respond.
"Don't rush me!" I scolded with a curt laugh. "I could speed but then I'd die before I get there."
"Are you insinuating that you're going to die this weekend?" He asked teasingly.
"Hmm. Knowing you... Wouldn't be surprised." I responded with a smile as I turned onto the next road. He laughed sarcastically.
"I have different ideas for us, that doesn't include death." Jeff said deeply. Something about the statement made me feel uneasy.
"Uhm should I be scared?" I asked Jeff only half jokingly. He chuckled.
"Do you not trust me?" He questioned. I rolled my eyes at the dumb question.
"You should know the answer Jeff." Before he could respond I cut him off. "Hey I'm turning onto your road, I have to go. I'll see you in a second." Jeff didn't answer, all I could here was shallow breathing. I furrowed my brows as I hung up. Strange...
I stood at his door, my mind screaming with excitement. My small hand balled up as I raised it to knock. But before I could knock the door swung open. My eyes were greeted with two blue ones. Before I could make a single peep two arms embraced my body. I was pulled into the warm chest of Jeff. I smiled and hugged him back.
We sat at the kitchen table and sipped on hot drinks. I observed him as he spoke about god knows what. But damn I missed him. He had deep brown hair and a beautifully bright smile. He was 6'5 and strong. How could you not love this guy? He took a drag from the bowl and handed it to me as I did the same. I looked at him in his blue eyes as I exhaled.
