Tipping Point vs The Chase (After Dark)
Soap Stars: Maisie Smith and Helen Flanagan
Intro
For those who are unfamiliar with these shows, Tipping Point is a show where contestants answer questions to put counters into a machine and they win money for every counter that comes out. It is based on a popular arcade game where you put coins in to try and get more out. The Chase is a quiz where you have to play a Chaser and answer more questions than them to win.
Firstly, this was chosen to run as a late night show for its pilot episode. The casting process for the host had been a complicated process with a lot of names in the hat. The winner was Georgia "Toff" Toffolo who was famous for being in Made in Chelsea and for being crowned Queen of the Jungle in 2017.
Toff was pleased to get this opportunity to host her own show and was getting her make up done when she saw who the contestants were going to be.
Maisie Smith, best known for playing Tiffany Butcher in Eastenders, Helen Flanagan, who used to play Rosie Webster in Coronation Street and a mystery Chaser from The Chase.
She read this and got ready putting on her pink dress and high heels like a cute doll. She walked out to host and started to introduce the show.
"Good Evening, Ladies and Gentleman and welcome to Tipping Point meets The Chase, the show where three celebrities answer questions to see if they can win money for charity."
"Our first contestant is Maisie Smith."
Maisie walks in wearing a three-piece leather suit with black flat shoes. "I've been on The Chase before and I wore this outfit then so I thought I'd wear it again," said Maisie.
"How good is your general knowledge?" asked Toff.
"Not great, I hope the other contestants are stupid." replied Maisie. With that, Toff introduced the next contestant, in came Helen Flanagan clad in a short black dress but the crowd were drawn to her boots. They were black thigh high shiny patent leather boots and Toff couldn't keep her eyes off them.
"See something you like?" asked Helen to a gawping Toff. Toff could not get any words out to ask Helen anything, instead moving on to the third and final contestant.
The Chase's theme music played and The Beast Mark Labbett appeared and walked over to the podium. "Let's get this over with," remarked an unimpressed Beast after looking over at his competition for this evening.
Toff was ready to begin when a special rule was introduced to the audience that made Toff freeze in horror. A mystery voice said "Whoever loses in each round will be forced to remove an item of clothing before they leave and swap with the host, there will also be an extra special treat for the winner."
Toff began the show by asking the first question to Maisie. "What city is the capital of Spain?"
Maisie said "Barcelona."
"Incorrect, it's Madrid." Maisie had 45 seconds to answer as many questions as she could. She did not answer any right, so she got no counters to put into the machine.
Helen's 45 seconds did not go much better but she did get one answer correct and with that counter she got £100. Mark answered six right and got £1000 from machine with his counters meaning Maisie was the first to be eliminated.
Toff looked at Maisie and said "Time for the forfeit, you're losing some of your clothes. Audience, do you want her to lose the top or the bottom of her outfit." A resounding cry of top was heard and Maisie took off her leather jacket, waistcoat and shirt underneath to be topless, showing off a toned body with a noticeable set of six pack abs. She gave them over to Toff who took off her dress and put them on.
Maisie took Toff's dress and tore it up saying "I'd rather be topless than wear a dress like that." Maisie stood now only wearing her trousers and shoes staring at Toff putting on her three-piece leather suit. This caused a tent to form in the Beast's trousers along with quite a few of the audience. The sight of a topless Toff putting on the suit and a topless Maisie taking it all in was quite a view. As Maisie was eliminated, she left and went back to her dressing room, leaving just Helen and the Beast to go head to head.
It was not close in the head to head as Helen passed on her questions and the Beast won every counter to increase his lead from £900 to £2,000. Thus, Helen was eliminated with the Beast going through to the final.
