Pam nervously adjusted her shirt opening one button, the hot September air in the New York headquarters office at Dunder Mifflin threatening to suffocate her despite the energy pulsing from her coworkers. Sweat glistening on her bangs, she paced in front of the executive suite doors, waiting to be summoned inside. Ryan, her abhorrent superior with a superiority complex, took over as the obnoxiously charming regional manager of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch.
With his dark hair, bright green eyes, newly sculpted beard, and muscular build, he made her stomach twist as she recalled their upcoming rendezvous.
Her iPhone buzzed in her blazer pocket, and Pam reluctantly pulled it out. It was a series of texts comforting her and asking what was going on from Jim, her boyfriend of four months though it felt a lot more considering their previous time as best friends. Ryan had been on their asses lately especially Jim, a sort of rivalry between the two had existed ever since Ryan had joined the company three and half years ago. The rivalry was mostly one-sided as Jim didn't care much about Ryan but since they were the most good-looking men at Dunder Mifflin and of the same age Ryan seemed to think they were in a competition to know who was the alpha male of the company. He had tried to flirt with Jim's previous girlfriends and now it was Pam, their duel extended to the professional world as they had both interviewed for the position of regional manager, Ryan only getting the job because Jim had refused to stay in Scranton with Pam. Ryan was still carrying a lot of insecurities over it and was desperate to establish his authority over Jim, Pam, and the Scranton branch.
"You can enter, miss Beesly" the assistant said
Head held high, Pam marched into the executive suite, trying to leave her anxiety at the door. Ryan had summoned her to the New York hq without an explanation, just telling her that he was unhappy about certain things at the Scranton branch and needed to have a serious discussion with her.
The smallest of smirks danced on Ryan's lips as he welcomed her and beckoned her to come closer and take a seat on the other side of his mahogany desk. She sat gingerly, hands draped over her lap, trying to keep her composure, Ryan facing her in his imposing leather chair not letting anything transpire.
Ryan's gaze lingered on her, eyes unabashedly roaming the curves of her body.
"You look tense, Pam. I can make that go away if you'd like," Ryan murmured, that scoundrelous grin still present on his lips.
Pam's heartbeat quickened, and she felt a pang of disgust in her chest.
"I'm not interested in what you have to offer," Pam replied firmly, swallowing the lump that had formed in her throat.
Ryan let out a low chuckle. "I was just trying to be polite Pam, nothing more."
"I'd just like to know why I'm here," Pam said not feeling in the mood for whatever he had planned.
"So serious but if you want to know David Wallace asked me to do an inventory of our different branches and I have to say the Scranton one as we both know is very problematic, between Michael's antics, Jane's mental breakdown and the insufficient sales numbers it's not looking great."
Pam didn't like the subtle threat hiding behind these words, "Okay but if you have a problem with our branch why are you telling this to the receptionist instead of Michael, the manager." she asked, her voice unwavering.
"Well, Michael's job isn't on the line. But it could be someone else." Ryan could see a little bit of fear in Pam'eyes, "Don't worry it's not you either, we still need a receptionist at least until a computer replaces you. But since our numbers aren't great I'm allowed to replace one salesman if I want and I have to say Jim's numbers are quite disappointing."
"That's not true"
"Actually it is, both Dwight and Stanley are doing better."
Pam couldn't contain her anger, "We both know it's not the real reason, you always had a problem with him."
Ryan raised his voice, "Yes I do because David Wallace likes him he thinks he can get away with anything including mocking his superior, from where I come from respect for the hierarchy means something and I believe it's time for Jim to receive a lesson."
The tension in the room grew, and Pam could feel her defenses rising. "You can't do that. You're just trying to get back at him because you're still upset about the manager job."
Ryan chuckled. "Oh, Pam, I don't care about that anymore. I got the position in the end, I have a new deal for you. You can make sure Jim won't get fired, or even better, I'll give him a promotion."
Pam raised her eyebrow, not expecting such a proposition.
"What kind of deal?" she asked, her heartbeat racing.
Ryan leaned back in his chair, his gaze fixated on her. "Well, I already prepared ΓΉy recommendation about Jim's future for David and I don't usually change my mind, but I'm willing to make an exception for Jim if you can persuade me," he said, the innuendo clear in his voice.
Pam's mouth went dry. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. "That's blackmail," she muttered, her voice shaking.
"You're asking me to sleep with you to protect Jim's job. I can't do that."
Ryan shrugged, his expression unchanged. "I'm simply giving you a choice, Pam. I have the power to make Jim's life miserable or amazing, and I'm willing to let you be the one to decide. And because I'm a reasonable man I could settle for a simple blow job"
Pam felt like she was in a nightmare. She couldn't believe that Ryan, her obnoxious superior, was propositioning her like this. "I have a better idea, I'm going to leave this room, go to HR, report this conversation, and get your ass fired"
"You can try but it will be your word against mine and I know more people than you. This is just a discussion Pam I'm not forcing you to do anything." Ryan's voice was soft, but Pam could sense the underlying threat.
"You can't do this," Pam said, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's not right."
"Right and wrong are subjective, Pam. I'm offering you a chance to protect Jim and his career. I'm giving you the power to make a decision." Ryan's voice was smooth, and Pam felt a chill run down her spine.
"I'm not going to do that. It's illegal," Pam said, her voice stronger now. She could feel her anger rising, and she knew she had to maintain her composure if she wanted to get out of this situation unscathed.
"Then Jim will lose his job, and it will be your fault. You can't say I didn't give you a chance," Ryan said, his tone unchanged.
Pam stood up, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, but she knew she had to stand her ground. "I won't let you blackmail me."
"Good for you Pam, now if you could leave because I have to call David and talk to him about this amazing salesman named Danny Cordray who could double our numbers and is ready to join us as soon as a job opens at Scranton. He will be very happy, don't you think?" Ryan said with a sadistic smile as she made her way to the door.
"I will not let you get away with this," Pam spat, her voice shaking with rage. Tears forming
"Oh, I already have. You see, Pam, this conversation never happened. I don't want to ruin your career, and I know you won't tell anyone. Just one little blowjob Pam, no sex, no real cheating it's all it takes for your problems to disappear."
