My life has turned out to be better than I could have possibly imagined. Well to tell you the truth, my life really started improving for the better about four months ago.
"It's almost time for them to make the announcement!" I said to Rosalind over the phone as I turned to my computer. "Yeah, yeah I know Desiree. I hope that you know the chances of one of us winning are very, very slim" she replied. Our conversations jumped from subject to subject while watching a live feed broadcast on WWE. The WWE was having a contest where you could win a dinner date with your favorite wrestler. We both entered the contest for the sheer fun of it. "You know they're going to pick someone else. I'd guess that our odds are one in a million or more", said Rosalind. "Shhhh, they're about to say who the winner is," I said interrupting her. "Good afternoon everyone. I'm Michael Cole coming to you live from the WWE headquarters in Connecticut. We'd like to start off by thanking the numerous fans worldwide that entered the "Dinner with a WWE Superstar" contest. We know that there are a lot of fans that would love to be chosen, but we can have only one winner. And now without further ado, the winner of our "Dinner with a WWE Superstar" is.........Desiree Johnson from Detroit, Michigan!!! Congratulations Desiree! You've won and someone will be contacting you so that we can make the arrangements!" Now I heard him say my name clear as a bell, but somewhere between Michael Cole saying "Desiree Johnson" and "Detroit, Michigan" I screamed.
For the next couple of weeks, I was contacted several times by the representatives from WWE to set up my dinner date. I had to sign confidentiality forms, security forms, and forms that to me seemed unnecessary. The day before our actual date, I got a chance to see my wrestler face to face for first time. "Hello Desiree. I'm Tracy and I'm here to introduce you to the WWE Superstar that you chose and to take some photos for the WWE Magazine. Are you ready?" "I sure am" was my response although in my head I was thinking "As ready as I'm going to get and please, please Lord don't let me faint!!"
"Follow me. He should be here in a minute," Tracy said.
Man, I was hoping to be chosen as the "prize" for this contest. It gives me a chance to take a break. I was a little late getting to the photo shoot on purpose, because I really wanted to see what I was getting myself into. I mean honestly this is still a blind date no matter how you put it. So I stood in the doorway scanning the room to get an idea as to what she looked like. She did have an unfair advantage. She already knows what I look like. Then I saw this relatively small figure sitting at a table looking sort of out of place with everyone else moving around. She's beautiful. Her skin looks so smooth; she's got the brightest, sexiest brown eyes I've seen and shoulder length black hair that's silky. She had on a purple short sleeved short that showed that she works out. Her black slacks were showing off her shapely legs. I needed her to stand up to get a full view of her.
I sat as patiently as I could at a small table taking in my surroundings. Cameramen were rechecking there equipment, setting up lamps and discussing to each other how many pictures they were going to take and from what angles. I was so busy watching them that I wasn't listening to the very sexy voice speaking from behind me. "Excuse me, are you Desiree?" I turned around to find myself face to stomach, with my eyes slowly drifting upward to a chest I've dreamed about for years. When I managed to stand, I was looking into the eyes of Dave Batista. "Yes, I'm Desiree. It's a pleasure to meet you." Man that sounded corny, but it was the polite thing to say.
"So are you ready for our date tomorrow" Dave asked me.
"Yes. By the way I want to ask you, what type of music do you like?"
"I like all different kinds of music. Why do you ask?"
"Because I picked a very nice restaurant with a live jazz band. I figured a good meal and good music should make for a relaxing atmosphere." I replied.
