Despite her seemingly kind and lovely appearance, Kara Zor-El was pretty frustrated. She didn't show it outwardly on her beautiful face, but internally Kara had a lot of pent-up irritation, which was part of why she was in Jump City, assisting Nightwing take down the monstrous Hellgrammite.
"Hsss! You have made a grave mistake, interrupting the birth of my hive!" Hellgrammite hissed, diving at Nightwing, who barely managed to avoid getting diced by the mutated supervillain's claws. "Now you two will be the first meal for my hatchlings!"
The grasshopper-like villain's razors and mandibles angrily gnawed at the stone wall he collided with, scurrying along the wall to leap onto Nightwing's back, shrieking and spitting wildly as he jumped.
Kara quickly zoomed forward to slam her fist into Hellgrammite's face, causing the green-and-orange creature to slam into the ground--right as Nightwing's escrima sticks hit the back of his head. "Ak! Tss! Your strength is nothing to Hellgrammite, not with my latest metamorphosis!"
"Oh great, he's talking in the third person." Nightwing quipped, rolling his eyes behind his domino mask. "Killer Moth did the exact same thing just a few weeks ago. Got real ugly, called himself Charaxes. And even then he still got taken down easily like the third-rate villain he was. You wanna rip off that guy?"
Kara giggled before she could stop herself. Damn it, she was supposed to be a co-worker to be taken seriously, not another mindless fangirl wanting an autograph!
"I am no longer some third-rate foe, flesh-meat!" Hellgrammite screeched as Nightwing threw a bola-rope around his arms and waist. "Batman, Green Arrow, and those Outsiders may have been worthy opponents before, but now I possess strength worthy of Superman!"
He effortlessly tore apart the rope, and knocked Nightwing into the ground with a single, aggravated hit, arching his mandibles to bite into the former Robin's head.
But before he could touch him, Kara interrupted Hellgrammite with a teasing tap to the head. "You want to fight Superman, right? Then why are you in Jump City, bugface?"
"M-My colony needed to form somewhere safe-so that I may have an ARMY of-GHAAH!"
WHAM!
Kara interrupted Hellgrammite's stammering explanation with a well-placed kick in the head, though the bug-villain wasn't yet down for the count, furiously crawling toward the blonde and swiping his sharpened claws at her.
She didn't know whether Hellgrammite was actually able to fit her skin--and luckily she didn't have to, as Nightwing jammed a batarang (nightarang?) that delivered a massive burst of electricity into the grasshopper man's back--and even THEN he wasn't finally done until Kara gave him an annoyed slap to the face, his twitching body sprawled pathetically on the ground.
"Whew...these villains just get harder and harder to take down." Kara said airily, internally screaming at herself for having such a lame conversation starter.
"Tell me about it." Nightwing grunted, stretching his back and wincing.
"Are you alright, Nightwing?" Kara asked concernedly.
"Nah, I'm just a little winded from something I did a few days ago. A lot of strenuous activity." Dick chuckled to himself before saying, "And now that it's just us, you don't need to be so formal. You can call me Dick and I'll call you Kara, alright?"
"Alright, Dick!" Kara began to blush heavily, all too enthusiastic to be better acquainted with her long-unrequited crush.
Now that he was standing still in front of her, Kara noticed how tired looking and worn out the taller, dark-haired man actually was, swaying slightly where he stood, and rubbing his temples every other minute. She also noticed Nightwing's lack of energy during the fight with Hellgrammite, how much slower his reflexes were, and the bags under his eyes when Kara used her X-Ray vision on his domino mask.
Of course, she also noticed his wonderful dark blue eyes, like two pools she could get lost in forever...and if her unashamed gawking and biting her lower lip didn't give it away already, Kara was totally checking Nightwing out!....Again.
And who could really blame her? Nightwing was hot, dressed in that skintight blue-and-black outfit all the time, Kara didn't need her X-Ray vision to check out his ripped muscles. Everything about him was irresistible, from how his dark hair sometimes got in the way of his handsome face, to his perfect ass, and his cock which was huge--and Nightwing wasn't even hard yet!
To Kara's disappointment, Nightwing wasn't as interested in checking her out as she was, giving her petite figure a quick once-over before adding, "I'm glad for the assistance, Kara...but why are you all the way in Jump City? I thought the entire state of Virginia was your turf or something..."
"I-I wanted to talk to you about something, and then I heard civilians panicking about some bug monster in the sewers." Kara admitted, flinching uncomfortably at his words.
"Yeah, apparently Hellgrammite had joined the recent supervillain trend of selling his soul to some kind of demon through a 'black candle' to 'evolve himself'--and transform anyone he caught into a grasshopper drone." Dick replied, giving the unconscious Hellgrammite a disgusted look as he slapped a specialized pair of handcuffs onto his spindly arms. "Hope these are enough until the authorities arrive...just my luck for him to show up here..." He groaned as he stood up again, dazedly stepping toward Kara as he continued, "So why did you...you...want..to--"
To Kara's shock, Dick simply passed out before he could finish his sentence, falling back with his head slumped downward. Luckily, she caught him before he hit the ground...and inadvertently copped a feel of his athletic body as she held him.
What? Why should she feel guilty for feeling Nightwing up while he was unconscious when he was the one cheating on his girlfriend!
Kara had harbored a crush on Dick for years, though by the time she'd arrived on Earth Dick had already established his own relationships and friendships than her. Of course, her infatuation with him only grew not long after that when he became Nightwing, and while Kara was still Supergirl, she'd had enough experience at this point to consider Dick as her peer.
Though this newfound confidence and beauty motivated Kara to wear a more revealing outfit (her stomach being exposed and her skirt becoming shorter...though Kara still wore short-shorts under her dress as she didn't like ALL the attention she was getting), she always knew deep down that she never had a chance with Dick Grayson/Nightwing, not when Starfire already had her greedy hooks into him.
If Kara considered her crop-top and short skirt "daring", then what the orange-skinned redhead wore was downright scandalous! How could she compete with a supermodel, badass, big-boobed, red-haired, princess like Starfire?
