The sun was just dipping below the horizon when Libby Smallbone hopped off her horse after a ride. One of her favorite pastimes was horseback riding, and today was no exception. Being around those four-legged beauties was one of her favorite things to do when she wasn't singing or acting. Something about the steady beat of the horse's hooves and the feel of the wind playing with her hair gave her a feeling of pure bliss.
As she dismounted, Nick strolled over. Libby liked Nick and she had always found him attractive, but she'd never seen him as anything more than a friendly face around the stables. She knew he wanted her, but she'd never thought of him "that way." Until now, she had always rebuffed Nick's advances. She'd gotten rather used to shutting him down every time he tried to flirt with her, but he had continued to hang around.
But today, for some reason, felt a little... different.
"Hey, Libby," Nick said.
Libby smiled. "Hey, Nick. What's up?"
"How was your ride?" Nick asked.
"Good," Libby replied. "I really enjoy riding." Her eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief.. She chuckled and bit her lip.
"Any dinner plans?" Nick asked.
"No," she said. "You?"
"Well, I was hoping we could have dinner together," Nick said. "There's a new restaurant downtown that's been getting great reviews. Care to join me?"
"Sounds like fun," Libby said, her voice laced with a subtle flirtatiousness. "Let me clean up. I'll be ready in about five minutes." Nick nodded. He could certainly wait five minutes for someone he wanted as much as Libby.
Libby went inside. She emerged a few minutes later, still in her comfy jeans and top, looking all fresh and pretty. She smiled and waved at Nick.
"I'm hungry," said Libby. "Let's go." Nick grinned as they got in his car. Libby smiled and continually glanced at Nick while they were making the short drive to the restaurant.
"I think the reviewers were right," Libby said. "This place is really good and the service is good too." Nick agreed. As they ate, their conversation took on a playful, flirtatious tone.
Nick was pleasantly surprised by Libby's flirtatious demeanor. Double entendres flowed effortlessly between them, each comment laden with innuendo. The air between them was charged with something new.
Libby was clearly enjoying herself, her laughter echoing through the restaurant. Nick couldn't keep his eyes off her, and she was definitely giving him the green light with every little glance and giggle.
"I like your shirt," Libby said, biting her lip. "It really makes your eyes pop."
