"Are you sure this will work Luke?"
"No Rosco, I ain't sure, but it's the best shot we have."
"What happens if it don't work?"
"Then he gets away with what he did, but you don't go to prison."
Rosco looked doubtful, "I don't know Luke. I know he's been hanging around, probably wanting to be here when the State police come to arrest me, but do you really think he'll fall for it?"
"Well he wants revenge, so I think there's a good chance he will."
"Just do your part Rosco and it'll work out, you'll see."
"I will Bo," Rosco snapped. Rosco felt a wave of sadness as the younger man flinched at his tone. He cursed himself and Bert Samuels again for the damage they'd done to the innocent man as he wondered if the boy would ever recover from the ordeal.
"Bo, you go on to the General, we'll be going in a few minutes," Luke said. He waited until Bo was out of earshot, "What the hell is wrong with you Rosco? Ain't you hurt him enough?"
Rosco looked away, ashamed, "I know, I didn't mean to snap at him."
Luke sighed, "You ready to do this now?"
"Yeah I'm ready."
Luke watched as Rosco walked into the Boar's Nest. He knew Daisy would do her part, no matter what her feelings were. He would never forget the look on his pretty cousin's face when they had told her what Rosco had done and why. Luke had expected her to offer Bo comfort, to focus her energy on their youngest cousin as he sat there with his head bowed, too ashamed to look at them. He had been taken completely by surprise when she had instead jumped up and grabbed Jesse's shotgun, planning to hunt Rosco down like a rabid dog. It had taken a lot of fast talking on his part to convince her to give him the gun. They had deliberately not told Jesse, fearing that in his rage he would do something they would all regret; they had never dreamed Daisy would be the one to fly into a homicidal rage.
She hadn't really liked the plan Luke had come up with, mainly because it would mean that Rosco would receive no punishment. She had, however, agreed to go along with it; after Bo nearly begged her to. Luke had done some checking around town before they talked to Daisy and had discovered that Bert was still hanging around. It hadn't really surprised him any, he had expected the man to stay in Hazzard until Rosco was arrested and Boss was ruined. A man who could come up with the cruel plan he had, would want to witness the results of his plan. Unsurprisingly, it was after all the best place to get information, he had been hanging out mostly at the Boar's Nest. Now they just had to wait for Daisy and Rosco to act out the scene they'd set for Bert and wait for him to take the bait.
"What do you want Rosco?" Daisy nearly growled when the sheriff walked up to her.
"I want a beer, what do you think I want?" Rosco snapped.
Daisy glared at him, "I won't serve you."
Rosco returned the glare, grabbing her arm, "You're a waitress and you're going to serve me, or should I get Boss?"
"You let go of me Rosco Coltrane," Daisy snapped, jerking her arm from his grasp. "Maybe my baby cousin is too scared to have you arrested, but I ain't Bo and if you touch me again I'll have you arrested."
"He told you?"
"Of course he told us, you had no right to do them things to him."
"He shouldn't have told you," Rosco growled. "He's gonna pay for that," he mumbled, unaware that Daisy had heard him. Turning on his heel, he walked outside.
"Oh," Daisy stomped her foot. "I wish there was a way to make him turn himself in since Bo won't do it," she mumbled to herself. A second later a satisfied smile crossed her face as Bert got up and followed Rosco outside.
Damn it! The boy wasn't going to turn him in, he couldn't believe after all the work he'd done the son of a bitch wouldn't be end up in prison after all. What the hell was wrong with that damned kid? Didn't he want the man to pay for what he'd done? "Guess he's too scared, well fine! If I could hypnotize the old fool into turning rapist it'll be a snap to convince him to turn himself in," he muttered. Climbing into his car, he followed Rosco down the road, unaware of the car behind him.
Coming to a lonely stretch of road, he forced the sheriff's car to the side of the road. "I need to talk to you Sheriff Coltrane," he said as he approached the other car.
"That's what the cb is for, ya dipstick," Rosco complained.
"I ain't got one and there wasn't any time to waste," Bert snapped. Pulling a gun from the waistband of his jeans, he leveled it at the sheriff. "You're coming with me Coltrane."
"What do you think you're doing?"
