The Riddler couldn't believe how easy it was to hack into the GCPD's security system. He sat outside the building with a stolen laptop he'd obtained after getting away from Batman and Batgirl. He'd spent the last of his money on explosives and hitmen. In the back of his mind, he knew the thugs he hired wouldn't kill both of them, but at the very least, he expected the explosion to kill one of them. He really wanted it to be Batgirl.
Speeding off in one of the vans he paid for was beneath him, but escaping the heroes in a sewer was worse. He waded through the muck and filth of the Gotham sewer system for so long the smell was trapped in his clothes. After climbing out of the sewers, he came up with a plan to defeat Batman and Batgirl. While he always wanted to defeat Batman in a battle of wits, now wasn't the time. He was going to sneak into the police department and free Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.
He eventually blinded the cameras of the holding cells in the basement and outside before climbing over the walls and sneaking in through the electronic back door he also unlocked with the laptop. Gotham was full of people who just left their electronics sitting around. He made his way through the door corridor, eventually finding a light switch.
"Hey! Who turned on the lights!" Harley shouted.
"Harley, dear please don't yell." Poison Ivy said while suppressing a yawn.
"Yes, please don't yell." Edward said, turning the corner.
"Riddler?" Ivy stood up and stretched her back. "What are you doing here?"
"Look, we don't have much time. I've blinded the cameras, but eventually some cop will figure out what happened. I have a plan. For both of you. I am going to break you two out of here and we're going to kill Batman and Batgirl."
Ivy sat in silence. Harley did the same.
"You? You're going to kill them? Don't you think that's a little bit much, at least for you?" Ivy said.
"Yes whatever," Edward rubbed his temples to relieve some of his stress. "Look, they've gotten in my way for too long. I've got to get rid of them."
"What's the reward?" Ivy asked.
"Freedom."
"Alright I'm in. It's getting boring here anyway."
"Quinn are you in?" Edward turned and walked to her cell.
The Riddler tapped his foot on the floor, waiting for an answer from the ditzy villain. She was wearing her familiar jester outfit, and he noticed how nicely it hugged her body despite how dumb he thought it looked.
"I'll do it! But only if I get ta' beat up Bratgirl first!" She said with an odd look in her eye.
"So you're both in?" Edward asked, his voice slightly panicked.
"Yes, I said I'd do it. As long as we don't get arrested again." Ivy said in her specialized cell. The officers never called it a cell, though; they called it 'the lockbox for the plant lady.'
"Excellent." Edward said, running his fingers through his greasy black hair.
"How are you gonna get us outta here Eddie?" Harley asked.
"Don't call me Eddie," He started. "I have hand-crafted explosives that I keep in case of bat-related emergencies that'll free you from this rusted iron trap. I'd advise you to step back, Harley, unless you want tiny bits and pieces of shrapnel ripping up that ridiculous outfit." Riddler reached into his pocket, pulling out a small metal explosive and placing it against Harley's lock.
"Can't you just talk like a normal person, Edward?" Ivy said, leaning against the glass.
He ignored her comment and pressed the tiny red button on the chip before backing up. It began smoking and sputtering before it popped off the lock clean and hit the floor.
"Was that supposed ta' happen?" Harley asked while shaking the bars.
"No. No, it wasn't." The Riddler stood defeated. His plans were ruined. All of his intellect, all of his genius, and pre-planning couldn't help him remember to make the backup explosives waterproof.
"So we aren't getting out of here? Thanks for waking us up Eddie." Poison Ivy turned around and sat against the back wall of her glass trap.
Harley cringed after catching a whiff of the Riddler's stench when he fell.
"You stink too." She added.
"Dammit. Dammit! Dammit!" Edward shouted before he heard a gasp of surprise from Harley.

Batman and Batgirl glided through the city. The air of Gotham had an unfamiliar warmth to it.
"So where is Riddler now?!" She shouted over the wind.
"He's been spotted outside of the GCPD lockup."
"So you're telling me we can just bust him up and take him into the front door?"
"That's the plan. We're almost there."
Batgirl followed Batman as he glided downwards next to the left side of the lockup. The heroes landed and found a laptop sitting in the grass.
"He hacked into their security systems." Batman said, picking up the laptop.
"What do you think he was trying to do? Kidnap another cop?" Batgirl asked.
"No. That would be dumb. Maybe it's another trap."
"He left the door open." Batgirl, using her detective mode, pointed over the wall towards the remote door Riddler left open.
"Let's go." Batman and Batgirl climbed up and over the wall and into the building.
"Damnit!" Batman heard Riddler shouting. Harley gasped at his arrival.
"Riddler. You've been caught. You're finished." Batman said his voice firm and commanding. Batgirl froze for a split second when she saw her captors again.
"Batman. Long time no see." Ivy said, smiling at the Riddler groveling on the floor.
"Batgirl." Ivy stared at the redhead. More at her body than her eyes.
"Hey Bratgirl! Ya still sore?" Harley tried reaching through the bars.
"Quiet both of you." Batgirl said before handing Batman her handcuffs.
"That's adorable." Ivy teased.
"I said quiet." Batgirl commanded.
"Control yourself." Batman ordered while cuffing the defeated Riddler.
