Most couples who act out a "Truck Stop Hooker" role-play might try it with an actual vehicle, but they would stay in the garage or at most venture into the driveway. This was not true for Phil and Robin McGraw. In a quest for maximum authenticity they had to play the game at a real truck stop. It increased the chance for getting caught, of course, but that was part of the appeal of the whole thing.
Phil was the famous Doctor Phil, host of his own long-running "advice" show (or human circus as he sometime called it) and at times he picked up role play ideas from the confessions of his troubled guests. His wife Robin saw all of the shows, often from a front-row studio seat, and she added her own take to their leisure time events.
One of the guests had been a thirty-something divorcΓ©e who was having trouble paying her mortgage. One evening while commuting home from work she pulled into a truck stop and tried her luck as a first-time lot lizard. Her business suit was something of a novelty among the drivers, and in a few hours she had made a surprising amount of money giving blowjobs and handjobs to the lonely asphalt cowboys.
After that the woman had used various unconventional outfits during her work sessions. Cocktail dresses and formal evening wear were choices that made her popular with her customers; the truckers had taken to calling her Duchess Caroline. Phil had a hell of time convincing her over the course of forty-five minutes to give up her hooking ways.
On a Saturday evening Robin got ready with her own costume, and although it wasn't as eye-catching as Caroline's get-ups she expected that Phil would be pleased. He didn't actually see her after she dressed but he saw her car leaving the driveway. About ten minutes later he got into his own vehicle, a crew-cab pickup with a camper box in the bed, and followed her route out of town. He was dressed casually except that he had his favorite white Panama hat.
As he drove east he played music on his sound system and sang along with some of the songs. One of his favorites was by Townes Van Zandt.
"I'm going out on the highway, listen to those big trucks whine

White Freightliner, won't you steal away my mind?"
They had planned to rendezvous at a so-called "travel center" in San Bernardino County. Phil noted that the old truck stop term had mostly been replaced by this euphemism. It was past dark when Phil drove into the parking lot and passed the restaurant. He noticed Robin standing at a window and he made sure that she had seen him. Then he drove to the far side of the facility and found a space between two tractor trailers. His front bumper was near the property line and beyond it was a dusty field.
A couple of minutes after he had turned off the engine he looked in the right hand mirror and saw a dark-haired woman approaching on that side of the truck. Robin came over to the passenger's window and tapped on it.
As Phil pushed the down button on the window he looked her over to figure out who he was dealing with. Robin's outfit didn't shout "hooker;" it could have been worn by any lady traveler stopping at the center. She had a University of Tulsa tee shirt ("Can't Be Beat") and a denim skirt. Her headgear was a bit incongruous for her; it was a Coors Beer baseball cap. Robin was rarely attired in legible clothes. He hadn't yet seen what kind of shoes she had on.
In a few moments she said, "Hi there sugar, it's a nice evening, isn't it?"
"Sure is honey; very nice evening indeed." He drawled that more than he usually did when on his show.
"Say, you don't sound like you're from around here."
"I live in California now, but I'll always be a Texas boy at heart."
"Is that so? I'm from Oklahoma myself."
"I've heard that Oklahoma girls are kind of bad, if you get what I mean."
"Oh, not so much. At least we wear underpants to church. Those Texas girls are so shameless they'll flash the preacher during his sermon."
"I reckon you're right." Phil chuckled and he was impressed that she was able to improvise this bit of dialogue so well.
He continued, "My name's Clyde by the way."
Where did I get that from, Bonnie and Clyde?
"Pleased to meet you Clyde. I'm Jenny Jo, or just J.J. as my friends call me. Say, you want a little company tonight?"
"Sure do. I've got a cooler back here with some soda pop. Come on in, the back door's unlocked."
They both got into the back seat of the crew cab. Phil took a couple of bottles out of the cooler and offered her one.
After a few sips she said, "Now Clyde, I saw you sitting all by your lonesome out here. I figured you were expecting something to happen."
"Well, little lady, that's true; I expected someone like you to walk by."
Both Phil and Robin had some knowledge of hooking from the thousands of guests who had been on his show. They knew that it was a transaction, plain and simple, although some of the johns would delude themselves about the true nature of the situation.
Clyde revealed that what he wanted oral sex, first by going down on her, then with her sucking on him. Jenny Jo offered her price - Robin had heard from enough guests to make a reasonable guess at what it cost - and Clyde paid her with real bills (although not the actual amount in their dialogue).
