Vampire Princess Nyssa Damaskinos looked at the fallen figure of her father, Vampire Overlord Eli Damaskinos, and then looked at her wayward brother, Jared Nomak, first of the race of Neo-Vampires known as the Reapers. Sighing, the tall, raven-haired and golden-skinned, gorgeously curvy and leather-clad young female Vampire bared her neck to her monstrous half-brother. Time to end this tragic little charade...
"Finish it, my brother, end me," Nyssa said with a deep sigh, and she stared at the tall, muscular and pale figure of Reaper master Jared Nomak as he crept forward. His body still glistening from the blood of both human guards and the hapless Vampire soldiers whom he slaughtered on his way to the Vampire Nation's stronghold, Jared Nomak cut an imposing figure. Demonically regal, that's how Nyssa would have described him.
Mere hours ago, Nyssa Damaskinos hated Jared Nomak, believing her monstrous half-brother to be everything their father Eli made him out to be. Until Blade's mentor, the old human warrior known as Whistler, gave Nyssa the ring given to him by Jared Nomak in the tunnels. A ring bearing the Seal of House Damaskinos, the ruling body of the Vampire Nation....
Nyssa Damaskinos had been stunned to discover her father Eli's duplicity. The Reaper strain of the Vampire virus didn't happen naturally, it was created by scientists working for House Damaskinos. The Reapers, the bane of Vampires everywhere, were brought into the world by her father. Nyssa had been lied to and betrayed by the man she looked up and trusted the most, her own father.
Jared Nomak wasn't the villain that Nyssa Damaskinos thought he was. Indeed, the poor creature was a victim of his circumstances. Just like Blade was. They were both born monsters, different from both mundane humanity and Vampires. Nyssa's heart wrenched when she thought of Blade. For the Day Walker saved Nyssa's life in the tunnels by giving her his precious blood...
What a day. Nyssa Damaskinos discovered that the Lord of the Reapers, leader of the new enemy forces which she feared the most was actually her wayward brother Jared Nomak, and the old enemy whom she once loathed, Blade, was the man who saved her life. A brave and honorable man whom Nyssa was beginning to feel seriously attracted to....
"You always were our father's favorite," Jared Nomak said, and he glared balefully at the cooling corpse of Eli Damaskinos which lay at their feet. The being responsible for all the pain and suffering Jared Nomak had endured throughout his short years was dead at last, and the Reaper rejoiced.
Jared Nomak inhaled the scent of Nyssa, and to his surprise, the female Vampire smelled different. Jared smiled, for he could smell the blood of the Day Walker coursing through Nyssa. Had the female Vampire slain the Day Walker? His feral eyes locked onto Nyssa's, and the Patriarch of the Reaper species saw no fear in the beautiful female Vampire's gaze. This was most unexpected, to be sure.
Nyssa Damaskinos looked at her half-brother, the monstrous Jared Nomak. Instead of revulsion, the young female Vampire felt pity for the tall, pale, clawed and fanged, bald-headed creature that stood before her. Nyssa could smell her father's blood coming off of Jared, for he'd just slain Eli Damaskinos, the tyrannical Vampire patriarch who had ruined them both. Would Jared finish her off as well?
Grabbing Nyssa by the throat, Jared Nomak sniffed the air. Three decades ago, he came into the world, truly one of a kind. Jared was born of two Vampire parents, his father was the old Vampire princeling Eli Damaskinos, and his mother a nameless female Vampire who died giving birth to him.
Jared Nomak was an anomaly from the get go, and the first of the Reapers. A new breed of Vampire, stronger, faster and more aggressive than all the others. The Reapers were tracking down and slaughtering Vampires across eastern Europe, and the Vampires got so desperate that they recruited their sworn enemy, the African-American Vampire hybrid/renegade superhero known as Blade, the dreaded Day Walker himself, to protect them from the Reapers.
"I think I'll let you live," Jared Nomak said, and as those words left his lips, the towering, menacing and absolutely formidable figure of Blade seemingly materialized. If Nyssa Damaskino's heart could still beat, it would have leapt in her chest. The female Vampire smiled happily as Blade stepped forward, his namesake weapon drawn.
"You do anything to Nyssa I'll kill you Nomak," Blade said, matter-of-factly, as he stepped closer. Jared Nomak tensed, and got ready to fight. The father of the Reapers didn't like the idea of fighting Blade. As far as he was concerned, the Day Walker wasn't his enemy, the damned Vampires were. Still, Jared wasn't about to let the misguided hero stop him.
"Blade, I don't want to kill you, I killed Eli, and that's all I wanted, to make the bastard pay for the hell he turned my life into," Jared Nomak said, and Blade scowled at him. Glaring into the tall, dark-skinned and leather-clad superhero's eyes, Jared Nomak saw the promise of hell. No sense reasoning with the half-human, half-Vampire hybrid. The fool truly intended to fulfill the mission the Vampires he loathed tasked him with...
"Blade, please stop," Nyssa said, and the female Vampire stepped between Jared Nomak and the Day Walker. Both the Lord of the Reapers and Blade looked at Nyssa Damaskinos, both men equally confounded by the Vampire woman's actions. Seriously, what the fuck? Blade seriously wanted to throw down and Jared Nomak was more than ready to meet the challenge....
"Nyssa, Jared Nomak must die," Blade said angrily, and he watched as Nyssa shook her lovely head. The female Vampire looked at the tall, dark, muscular and leather-clad Day Walker and the tall, pale and slender yet powerfully built Lord of the Reapers and sighed.
