"So, any plans tonight?" Florence asked casually.
"Sleeping. Definitely a lot of sleeping." Hailee yawned, before realizing the implication and stammered, "I mean, I'm free. No plans. None whatsoever. How, how about you?"
"Actually, I have a hot date." Florence casually revealed.
"Oh?" Hailee deflated, failing to hide her disappointment as she added, "That's great."
"If she can take a hint." Florence said dryly.
"Well, I hope she does..." Hailee said, before her eyes went wide, as realization hit embarrassingly late, and she said as softly as she could, "Wait, you mean... me?"
"Yes, I mean you." Florence smiled softly, checking that no one was watching, and then gently taking one of Hailee's hands in hers, "Relax, okay? It's just two actresses, having dinner together. It happens all the time. No big deal. And it can just be dinner, if you want. A casual meal between friends. But... I hope I've made my preference clear."
"Crystal." Hailee squeaked nervously, then against her better judgment added as quickly and softly as she could, "I'd like it to be a date though. Like, officially. Just between you and me, obviously. No need to have it advertised to the paparazzi, or anything. But... I... I really like you, Florence. As in, like-like. You know?"
"I like-like you too, Hailee." Florence said softly, squeezing the other girl's hand before letting it go, "So, I'll pick you up after work, okay?"
"It's a date." Hailee grinned dorkily.
Florence Pugh had wanted to ask Hailee Steinfeld out last week, and it had been kind of been an unofficial date, given they had spent time together in her hotel room. However, unlike most of the girls Florence hooked up with, she felt a connection between herself and this girl. They just clicked. And the sex had been great, and promised to be better with time.
And it even seemed like the brunette would be open to the idea. However, in the blonde's experience, it was best not to rush these things. That there was something to be said for anticipation. Besides, it felt like she should give Hailee a chance to think about it. Be sure this was what she really wanted, given the risks it involved.
Even if one of them had been a boy, any public display of affection had people sticking their nose in their business, making a big deal of it. Which might be especially the case given they were both girls, who weren't publicly out as queer. So, it had taken a while for Florence to find a quiet moment to ask Hailee out. And then when she got the answer that she wanted, she couldn't just kiss the other girl in celebration.
Even though she wanted to. God, she really, really wanted to. So much so, that during their break, they managed to sneak away for a brief make out session. But no more than that. Again, Florence was trying to build anticipation. Besides, she had plans for Hailee and her cute little butt. Literally.
The date itself was very casual, just dinner in a nearby restaurant. Given they were filming in New York City it was easy to fine somewhere which was busy enough to slip into the background, but not so much that they would be disturbed. Well, they were recognized, and had taken a few selfies, but there were no real issues. Mostly, they were left alone, which gave Florence what she really wanted.
Namely, a chance to get to know Hailee Steinfeld a little better. Who was just as funny and charming as she seemed in interviews. Yes, the poor girl was obviously trying to make a good impression, and couldn't hide her nervousness. But it was really sweet, and Florence was thoroughly charmed.
Of course, while she mostly wanted was a date with this charming girl, Florence was definitely looking forward to the plans she had for when they were alone together. Because pretty much the entire time, she wanted to kiss Hailee, press their bodies together, or just even hold her hand. She even risked doing the last one when they were leaving, knowing that she could get away with it as simply a sign of friendship.
Luckily, it seemed no one was paying attention anyway. Then, they were sharing a cab on the way back to the hotel they shared, their fingertips touching gently as they sat next to each other, and shared the occasional glances. Which was a bit too obvious, but luckily, the driver didn't seem to notice.
"So, that was nice." Hailee said nervously.
"Nice?" Florence raised an eyebrow, unable to avoid teasing.
"I mean, it was good! Great? Fantastic! I... I had fun." Hailee stammered, "Don't you think?"
"That you had fun?" Florence offered one final tease, before quickly reassuring, "Yes, it was great. And yes, I had fun. Thank you for such a wonderful time, Hailee."
"You're welcome." Hailee beamed happily.
"Of course, it doesn't have to be over." Florence smirked.
"I was hoping you would say that." Hailee grinned even wider.
