Season 6 Episode 13

Kate was the sofa in Castle's loft. She attacked him and was about to climb up on him, "It was nice sharing you with Tory, but I need you all to myself, what do you say, Castle?"

He was about to strip her naked, when the doorbell rang. It was 6:45 AM and he looked to Beckett, "Who would be here so early?" He went to answer the door and it was Pi, "I was wondering if you had my recommendation finished?"

"No, PI, I'm still working on it."

"I Really appreciate you doing it."

"I know I told Alexis I was finished, but I haven't quite, um... I'm still tweaking it. I'm getting it just right."

"You're a perfectionist, like me. Well, take your time. Not too much time. Deadline's tonight."

"I'll have it done by lunch."

"Thanks, Mr. C! You're the best!" He high-five Rick.

Rick slammed the door in his face. He turned back to Kate who was in the kitchen pouring coffee, "You haven't written a word, have you?"

"No, but in defense, what am I supposed to write? It's Pi."

"So why'd you offer?"

"I didn't. Alexis asked and after our wild threesome, I couldn't say no. But no more excuses." He opened his laptop, "I'm gonna do it right now."

Suddenly Beckett's cell went off and Rick closed his laptop, "Unless that's a murder."

There was a report that the rock star singer, Mandy Sutton was dead at the ripe age of 22.

When Castle hear it he turned to Kate, "Alexis used to love her kids' show, Mandy Melody."

They met up with Javi and Kevin at the building where Mandy lived.

Kevin confirmed it, "Yeah, penthouse, the doorman found her just before 6:00 this morning."

Kate found Lanie, "OD?"

She shook her head, "Given her lifestyle, you'd think. But this is plain old-fashioned murder. Blunt-force trauma to the back of the head. The facial lacerations probably happened with the fall."

"Okay, when did this happen?"

"Lividity puts it between 9 and 11 last night."

Javi spoke up, "Well we can cut that time frame in half. The doorman said that the limo dropped her off at the lobby last night at 10:00 P.M."

Kate was confused, "She was killed within an hour of returning home?"

Castle looked down at her, "What was she doing back here?"

Javi added, "The doorman didn't know, but he said she used that door sometimes when she wanted to avoid the crowd."

They had Mandy's mother in the precinct to get a statement and she was shocked. She wanted to know what Mandy was doing in the alley? She told Kate she was clean for a while, but fell off the wagon and went to a club, got drunk and was making out with an old boyfriend. Someone took pictures and plastered them all over the gossip sites. When her current boyfriend, Zack saw them, it was too much for him. They got into a big fight and he left her.

They found Zack at a housing project and he was upset about the photos, but knowing now that she was go... "Look, I loved her. I would never hurt her."

Kevin nodded, "Okay, so where were you last night between 10 and 11 P.M."

"I didn't do this, okay? I was at a lumber yard in Fairfield, New Jersey, loading up a truck with the rest of these guys. You can ask them."

Javi added, "And the last time you saw her?"

"Two days ago, when I broke it off." He told them about her old boyfriend, Jesse who told him he was going to kill her because she broke up with him.

Kate pulled Jesse in, but he had an alibi. He was at a pool hall in Queens.

Kate got a call from Lanie, "We have a problem here."

"So what's the problem?"

Mandy's mother spoke up, "I'll tell you what the problem is. That's not my daughter. That's not Mandy"

They found out that the body was one Claire Samuels, 25. She was used as a stand-in for Mandy. A look a-like they used to throw off the press when she wanted to slip away and be alone.

They gave the info to Gates and she took a look at her picture, "So if Claire is our actual victim, then where is Mandy Sutton?"

Kate replied, "We don't know. No one has seen her and she's not answering her phone."

Gates added, "Given that Claire was pretending to be Mandy when she was killed, then we need to consider the very real possibility that Mandy Sutton was our killer's intended target, and that they might be looking to finish the job."

Castle jumped, "They may already have, which is why we can't find her."

Her assistant came rushing into Gates office, "Found her! She's checked into the Wessex Hotel under one of her aliases. But she's not answering her room phone, and she's not responding to knocks on the door."

Kate and Castle went there with the hotel manager, who opened the door. The room was trashed and they found her on the floor, passed out. She was next to a large patch of red and it was red wine, not blood.

Kate rolled her over and she groaned out, "Closing time already?" She looked up at Kate and Rick, "Who are you?"

They brought her back to the precinct and she was in the lounge, her head in her hands, "What do you mean, I'm dead?"

Kate tried to explain, "Claire Samuels was killed last night and the world thinks that, that was you."

Mandy looked confused, "Who?"

Castle added, "Claire Samuals. She's your decoy."

Her mother sat up, "The girl we dress to look like you to confuse the paparazzi"

She finally realized, "Oh! Oh, yeah. God, that's pretty harsh."

Kate looked at her notes, "Do you know why she went to your apartment last night?"

She shook her head, "No. Why?"

"Well, I mean, we're trying to figure out how she got there, and your mom said that she wasn't scheduled to work yesterday, so.... "

Rick cut in, "Yeah, the limo company claims that the car she arrived in was ordered by you."

Mandy sat back, "I've never drunk-dialed a limo before, but.... " She picked up her cell and looked at it, "Nope. Wasn't me."

Castle pressed on, "What about Claire? Did you call her?"

"No, I barely know her."

After more questions Kate told her to go back to the hotel and lay low until they found out who was trying to kill her.

While Castle was getting Mandy a latte to clean the cobwebs from her head, Alexis came in, "Hey Dad?"

"Hey, Alexis, what were you doing..."

She cut him off, "The letter for Pi!"

Mandy covered her head with her hood to hide and Rick spoke up, "I just am about to... Just gonna make a few tweaks."

She knew better, "You haven't written it."

"Not all...Not yet."

"I thought you might need some help" She opened her phone, "So I came up with some talking points for you" She handed him her phone.

He took it, "Oh, good. Okay, um..." He read what she wrote, "Outstanding person, natural leader."

She rolled her eyes, "Dad, I know you and Pi don't always see eye-to-eye. If you don't feel comfortable doing this..."

He cut her off, "No, listen, hey. Hey, Pi and I see eye-to-eye on one very important, red-headed thing." He hugged her, "Love you."

She hugged him back, "I love you, too." She pulled back, "Hey can you believe that about Mandy Sutton? It's weird, right?"

Rick was trying to deflect, "Yes, weird."

Alexis were on and on, "Remember how much I loved her show? And those secret identity glasses. If you were mad at me, I'd wear a pair of glasses to dinner and you'd pretend like you didn't know who I was?"

Mandy was still sitting there, hiding her face, but a smile crossed her face just hearing Alexis going on and on.

"Rick tried to cut her off, "I remember. Actually...."

Alexis cut in, "But then she grew up and, whoa! I mean, how does that happen to someone? Becoming such a hot mess?"

Mandy slammed her phone down and removed her hood and glared up at Alexis.

Alexis' jaw dropped, "Oh, my God. I thought you were...."

Mandy cut in, "Yeah!"

Rick added, "Alexis, this is Mandy. We're just keeping her under wraps for now." He looked at Mandy, "This is my daughter."

Alexis stared at her, "It's nice to meet you."

While that was going on, Kate was talking to her father on the cell, "No dad, we're still engaged Don't believe what you read in the papers. I gotta go, bye."

Castle buckled down and was writing Pi's recommendation.

Down the street, Alexis was walking with Pi, "Will you stop worrying He'll have lots of great things to say about you. I guarantee it."

"I don't know. I'm not exactly Mr. C's favorite person. And he is taking an awfully long time."

Alexis tried to calm him,"He does have other things to do, you know."

He stopped walking and turned towards her, "No, Al, that's not what I meant."

"Maybe he's done by now. He said he's text me when it was ready. Let's see." She pulled her phone out of her pocket, "That's weird, my phone's off." She clicked it on, it chimed. "That's not my ring. she answered it, "Hello?"

It was Mandy, "You have my phone."

Alexis was blown away, "Mandy? Hi! Uh...Yeah, I just realized. It's funny. We must've switched."

Mandy was irritated, "I need it. I'm at the Wessex Hotel."

"Okay, sure. It's not like I took it on purpose or anything. Just a misunderstanding."

"Room 522," she hung up.

Alexis looked to Pi, "I guess I'm bringing Mandy her phone."

Pi ignored her, "I gotta head uptown. The bee pupae are emerging. See you later?"

"Okay, bye." She went to Mandy's room and she answered it with a glass in her hand, "Hey."

Alexis entered, "Hey. So, uh, here's your phone."

Mandy turned and handed Alexis hers.

Alexis tried to explain. "Look, I'm sorry about the whole "Hot Mess" thing I said before."

Mandy shot back, "Sorry that you said it or sorry that I heard it?"

Alexis turned, "I should probably go."

As Alexis began to leave, Mandy added, "It happens when you're not looking."

Alexis stopped and turned back, "Excuse me?"

"Before, you asked how it happens, how someone becomes like me. It happens when you're not looking, and by the time you realize it, its already who you are. Like the car crash on the side of the road, everybody stops and watches?"

Alexis took a seat, "That doesn't mean it's who you have to be. You can always change."

She took another sip of her drink, "Turns out I don't do change so well. But you steal a police car and you set it on fire, I'm your girl. Or if you find the greatest guy in the world, fall madly in love, and then mess it up by hooking up with my dirt bag, ex, that I can do."

Alexis nodded, "Yeah, I saw that picture online."

She scoffed, "You and the rest of the world." She took another sip of her drink.

Alexis stared back at her, "Maybe, if you didn't drink...."

"If I don't drink, then I start to feel. And I don't like what I feel. I wish I had those glasses from Mandy Melody. I'd just put them on and just disappear."

Alexis nodded, "I know how you feel."

Mandy spat back, "How could you possibly know how I feel?"

"Because right now I wish I could disappear from my life, too."

Mandy continued to drink and she downed another mini bar bottle and looked at Alexis.

"The thing about my boyfriend is, I thought I was being so grown-up. Moving in with him, getting my own place, but now, it's my whole life. And I'm pretty sure I've made a huge mistake. The sex with him sucks, not like with.. well let me say, he doesn't give me the orgasms I'm used to. Do you know why I'm helping him with his grant application? Because if he gets it, he'll have to travel."

Mandy looked bored,"That is messed up. You need to tell him."

Alexis stood and reached out and took hold of Mandy's hand and drew her up off the lounge chair she was sitting on.

"Come over to the bed, Mandy. I've been taking a massage class in school. It's a throw-away elective, but I had to take two physical Ed classes and I wasn't about to take bowling or fencing. What better way to give you a little comforting than a nice, soothing massage?"

She drew the bra away, "There, now I can really get to those sore muscles, isn't that better?" Alexis resumed her massage and all Mandy could do was nod.

As Alexis worked her shoulders, she made Mandy lean forward slightly. slowly, she felt Alexis pulling her back as her hands moved forward.
