Season 5 Episode 10

Alexis returned home, leaving her dorm to be taken care of by her grandmother and father. It seemed she caught Mono and she was miserable.

Kate was in the kitchen having coffee. He came in, "Sorry about this. I know this wasn't what you expected when you asked to stay here while your place was being fumigated. Alexis was supposed to be going to Paris with her mother."

She held up her cup for him to refill, "It's fine."

The door bell buzzed

He still felt bad, "Okay, well...."

Martha cut him off, "I'll get it."

He turned back to Kate, "If you want to stay in a hotel, I would completely understand..."

She interrupted him, "No! I'm not gonna leave you just because your daughter's sick."

Martha called out, "Richard."

He ignored her, "I'm gonna make this up to you in so many ways." She grinned at him, knowing exactly how he was going to do that.

Martha called out again, "Richard!"

He turned and in a drawn out reply said, "What"

Martha pointed to the gorgeous redhead standing in the doorway, "Your ex-wife is here."

Both Rick and Alexis were shocked, he blurted out, "Meredith?"

Alexis called out, "Mom?"

Meredith gave Rick a sexy grin, "Hello, kitten!" She dropped her bag in Martha's hand and entered to loft.

Rick was not happy, "Uh, what are you doing here?"

She was as flighty as ever and ignored him. She moved over to Alexis on the sofa, "Alexis! Oh, my poor baby!"

Alexis tried sitting up, "Aren't you supposed to be in Paris?"

"Not without my daughter. And since you can't go to Paris, I'm bringing Paris to you. French pastries and Funny Face. We can enjoy them as I nurse you back to health.."

Both Kate and Rick stood there in awe of how she took over the loft in a few brief minutes.

Rick came over to her, "Meredith, how..... Why so much luggage?"

She turned to him and glared at him.

He knew exactly what has happening, "Oh!"

Luckily they had a murder and had to leave. On the way there she tore into him, "I cannot believe that your are actually letting your ex-wife stay with you. With us!"

"What was I supposed to do? Stick her in a hotel?"

She replied quickly, "YES! Look, I get her taking care of Alexis, but staying at your place?"

He tried to smooth things out, "Okay, wait, hang on. I turned to you, I said, "Is it all right with you?" And then you said, "Yes!"

"What am I supposed to say? Everyone is looking at me. I'm not meant to be the bad guy in this case, you are. Besides, I gave you the look."

"What look?"

He was exhausted from this discussion, "You gotta understand...."

She cut him off, "You know what? I'm not talking about this right now." She arrived at the crime scene, "Good morning, Lanie."

Lanie looked up from the dead body, "Not from the way you sound. What's wrong?"

She stooped down beside Lanie, "Men are clueless."

She shook her head, "Men, or just Castle?" She turned and directed the question to him. "Well, no matter how miserable your day is, it's not as bad as Michelle Twohey's. She took an ice pick to the side of the neck."

Kate knew her, "Michelle Twohey, the divorce lawyer for the rick and famous? Isn't she the one that only represented women?"

Castle added, "And strikes fear in the heart of so many a soon-to-be ex-husband."

Lanie continued,m "There's something else. When I got here, she had a piece of paper in her hand., with a name and an address." She turned and called out, "Ryan!"

He came over, "The name on the paper is R. Garrison. It's a Scarsdale address."

Kevin and Javi went to the family to speak to them and Kate & Rick had an interview with the boyfriend.

Neither of the interviews led to any help.

Castle left the precinct telling Kate that he would take care of the problem with Meredith.

Kate went to see Lanie. She said she had something. When she got there Lanie was all over her, "No Beckett, you have to take care of it. This is Meredith we're talking about, the deep-fried Twinkie that Castle has ex-sex with whenever she rolls into town."

Kate didn't want to hear any of it, "Lanie! Look, I trust him. He's not gonna have sex with her without me being there too. We have an agreement."

Kate tried to defend him, "He's in a catch-22. Alexis is sick...."

Lanie cut her off, "Doesn't matter. This is a war, girl. And guess who's losing."

She let out a long sign, "I don't know. Maybe you're right."

Lanie raised her voice, "Maybe I'm right? Of course, I'm right."

"Lanie! I didn't come down here to talk about this. You said that you have something case related."

"Yes. Are you ready for some good news?"

Kate nodded, "That would be nice."

"I processed the victim's clothing and found trace amounts of someone else's blood on her jacket button. I'm running DNA now. I'll call you when I got something."

Kate looked at the gorgeous M.E.. "Thank you."

Back at Rick's loft, he entered and found Meredith cooking in the kitchen. She looked up, "Hey, back so soon Did you catch the killer already?"

"Uh, no, not yet. How's Alexis?"

"Mmm, sleeping. Bur I'm gonna wake her with some soup. Want some?"

He approached her,"Oh, um, no, thanks. Listen, Meredith, about you staying here.... "

She cut him off, "Thanks again, Richard. I can't tell you how much this means to me."

He was stuck again, "Yeah, it's just Beckett, and I..."

She cut him off again, "Are wonderful! It's so refreshing to see how secure you two are in your relationship. You know, most women would take issue with an ex-wife staying with their boyfriend. But not Kate Beckett. She gets it."

He was cornered, "Yeah, Kate gets it." He leaned on the counter, "Um, here's the thing, Meredith, I..."

Once again, she cut him off, "I know. And it isn't easy for me to admit it." She began to tear up, "I haven't been the best of mothers. I've missed so much of out daughter's life." She placed her hands over his and he looked down, but she wouldn't stop, "So the fact that you're letting me be here now, for Alexis, during her time of need.... Richard, I'll never, ever forget this." She picked up the tray and left to go feed Alexis the soup.

He watched her walk away and he replied to himself, "Neither will Beckett."

He returned to the precinct and they sat side bu side, she looked at him, "Well"

HE cleared his throat, "Well, what?" He saw her roll her eyes, "Oh, that, still working on that.." He changed the subject, "What about.... any progress finding Michelle Twohey's killer?"

In a gruff voice she replied, "No, not yet."

They interviewed a couple that was having issues and they were arrested for smashing each other's items in the settlement. Kate had them arrested.

Javi saw them arrive in handcuffs. He turned to Castle, "Did ever get that bad with either of your exes?"

He shook his head, "No, no, both of my divorces were amicable."

Kate looked up from her desk, "Yeah, a little too amicable." She got up and left.

Javi looked at Rick, "Bro, what was that?"

He played dumb, "What was what?"

Kevin spoke up, "Your girlfriend just uttered a sarcastic remark about your ex-wife, all all you're gonna say is, "What was what?"

Javi pushed things, "Spit it out, tell us!"

"Ah, okay, as you know, Beckett is staying at the loft while her place is getting fumigated, Alexis is home sick as well., and then Meredith showed up and she said she want to stay in the loft..... "

Javi cut him off, "And you said no." He saw Castle stare at him without answering, "Tell me you said no." Again he got no answer and Javi rolled her eyes, "WOW!"

Kevin screamed out, "Really?"

Javi laid into him, "Letting your ex stay with you when you're with someone else, that's like throwing gasoline on fireworks."

He tried to defend his actions, "Come on. Guys, it's not that bad."

He stayed on him, "Castle, you are on the edge of the very, very steep cliff, my friend."

Kevin took over, "And if you don't do something about it quick...." They both whistled and made an explosion sound.

He made a call, and said on the phone, "Yes and if you could send some strawberries and champagne sent up there, waiting.... Perfect Cedric, I owe you. Thank you"

I have an idea, why don't we discuss the case tonight in our over-sized Jacuzzi at the Four Seasons, where I just booked us the ambassador suite."

She stared at him, "Why would we do that?

"Because your place is still being fumigated and my loft is overrun with redheads, so I thought why not just go and enjoy ourselves."

"No on the Four Seasons. If anyone should be sent to a hotel, it's Meredith."

"No, I tried. It means so much to her to be there for Alexis, and it'd just seem heartless to kick her out and send her to a hotel."

She glared at him, "Really, Castle? Because you just tried sending me to one."

He swallowed hard and followed her out.

In the morning, Kate was in the kitchen making coffee and Meredith walked in, yawning. She was dressed in a tiny tank-top and a even smaller pair of panties. It showed her camel-toe. "Uh, no, thanks. I think I've had enough kick for one morning." She glared at Castle, "I will be at work." She turned and left.

He arrived later at the precinct and saw her at her desk, "Hey, listen, that whole coffee thing, Meredith didn't mean anything by that. She was just trying to be thoughtful."

In a sarcastic voice she replied, "I'm sure she was."

"So you're not mad?"

"About what? About how comfortable your ex-wife is in your home, and with your family. How she seems to know things about your that I don't know? Why would I be upset?"

"Okay, see, this is why I wanted to stay at the Four Seasons, so you wouldn't have to deal with this."

She was getting pissed off, "Castle, I shouldn't have to deal with this, because you should've said no."

"Yes, but I didn't, and now I can't. I know. I'll send Alexis and Meredith to the four Seasons. I'll just hire a concierge doctor."

She was livid now, "No, Castle, I am a a big girl, okay? I can be in the same place as your ex-wife."

After listening more, she replied again, "Fine." She hung up and stared at her phone.

Castle was worried, "What did she want?"

She had a confused look on her face, "She asked me to dinner tonight. Just the two of us."

He was really nervous, "To dinner? And you said yes? How could you say yes?"

She blurted out, "Same way you did when she asked to stay with you. Besides, Castle, if I said no, that would have made me look insecure." She turned and walked away."

He turned and looked to Javi and Kevin, "Is this as bad as it seems?""

Javi shook his head, "No, it's much worse, much, much worse.""

"No, okay, hang on. Let's take a step back from this, let's just think about it." He looked up, "Just dinner."

Kevin replied, "Just dinner between your ex-wife and your new girlfriend. That's deadly. Castle, you have two worlds. Right now, they're both coming together. What happened then worlds collide?"

Javi blurted out, "BOOM!""

Castle began to panic, "Okay, guys, you are taking this a little too far."

Javi stopped him, "Castle, Meredith know things about you."

"So... is there anything Meredith knows that you don't want Beckett to know?"

He looked down and really looked sick, Javi replied, "BOOM!"

Kevin replied, "Two worlds colliding!"

He turned and ran out looking for Beckett. He found her at the murder board, "Hey, have I told you how lovely your penmanship is?"

He returned to the loft and paced back and forth, wondering what they were taking about.

At the restaurant., they had a bottle of wine and a large meal. While eating they began to open up.

Meredith looked across the table at the light haired brunette, "I can see what Richard sees in you. You are gorgeous, successful and so sure of yourself."

Kate chuckled, "Well, you may see that, but with you at the loft, all I can think about is how you want to bed him again and it worries me."

She smiled at Kate, "I have to say, when I arrived, that was without a doubt the first thing I had on my mind. You have to agree, he is one great fuck. But after seeing the two of you together, I know he's really into you. I wouldn't want to jeopardize that for the two of you."

Kate chuckled and turned, "Check please!" She signed for Castle's room and they were off to the suite to see what could occur.

When they entered the elevator, there were two other couples going up too.
