It was glorious, Jane and I got married at the aptly named Heaven's Gate in China. It was an intimate affair, with close family attending. The sun shone bright that day, at the top of those 999 steps. It was a fairy tale. Jane looked beautiful, she glowed as we were to be married. I was happy down to my very soul. She was a shimmering vision in white, as the sun shone downwards it lit up a halo above Jane. She was an angel, an angel that saved me from an abyss.
Once the necessary parts of the ceremony were done, we came together to have our first dance. Jane was smiling, blushing a little. We chose 'Endless Love' by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross. It was slow, but perfect for our first dance. Everyone attending was happy and content, everyone watched as we danced. Everyone present knew, that we were in love.
We had two receptions, one in London and one in Johannesburg for our friends and family. In London, I met Jane's co-workers and found them to be lovely people. They seemed not at all surprised that Jane kept our encounters a tight-lipped secret or that I was a gamer as well. However, what did seem to surprise them was my love of cars.
In Johannesburg, everyone was happy and those who doubted I could end up with a woman like Jane, were taken aback and unable to provide any retort whatsoever. Those who wondered why I took so long to get married, now realised why I never rushed to settle. I had always believed in finding out who I truly was before finding someone with which to share this life. That is if, they were out there.
We then found some time and whisked ourselves away on an adventure. Our honeymoon was a little different. Instead of a beach with cocktails, we would do that later, we decided on visiting the ancient sites. The ancient sites within the ruins of Machu Picchu to specific. Jane and I marvelled at the remains of this amazing place.
"So, what gave you the idea to come here?" Jane asked.
"Well, I had a passion for history and you mentioned this place on a livestream you did a while back," I responded.
"You really are thoughtful in everything you do," Jane responded.
"Thank you, I love doing things for you and always will," I responded.
Jane smiled and drew me in for a quick kiss. That told me how she felt about me wanting to do things for her.
"I had a dream about you last night Jane," I said to Jane.
"How dirty was it?" Jane enquired with a smirk on her face.
"Only a little actually," I responded with the corresponding hand gesture.
"What was it about?" Jane asked.
"Well, you were in a bathtub and I walked into the bathroom, naked as well, and lifted you up from the bath tub. I held you in my arms as water dripped from your naked body. The last time I had that dream it ended there, but this time it continued as I kissed you. Then I woke up when you kissed me this morning."
"Well, Billy you're not in a dream, I'm really here and you are my husband, and I am your wife," Jane said to me before drawing me in for another kiss.
I had fallen more and more in love with her as each day past. She remained as wonderful as the day I had fallen in love with her, half the world away. She appreciated all that I did for her, the little things that really added up over time. However, it was not just a one-way street, Jane did so much for me by simply being in my life, that I could never repay her.
We continued admiring the sights and commented to one another how much that place felt like it was straight out of a Tomb Raider game. We loved the sights and snapped quite a few pictures for the memories. We eventually made our way back to the hotel in Aguas Calientes. The town closest to Machu Picchu
We opened the window which looked out onto the small town below. Our room service arrived, and we sat by the window enjoying the night sky going past. We turned off the lights and lit some of the candles that arrived with our room service.
After we ate, we sat and just watched in silence the scenes unfolding outside the window. It felt like the entire universe was completely empty, save for us. It was how I felt when I first spent time with Jane and the feeling was still there. Whenever we sat like that, I felt invincible. Some more time had passed, and we turned in for the night, another day of adventure beckoned.
We headed out see some more ruins in and around Machu Picchu, as we had only seen a tiny bit the previous day. We discovered interesting things especially among the smaller ruins. There were the remains of the possessions of ordinary people from thousands of years ago. The things that didn't get as much attention in the world beyond archaeology. It became yet another connection which strengthened the bond between us.
At the day's end we let our hair down, as we ate, drank, and danced the night away. It was unlike any trip either of us had been on. We had disconnected from society and travelled into the past. We both wanted to see that place and the fact that we experienced it together made it even better. We continued our remaining days there exploring the sights and enjoying our nights in the most intimate way possible.
The world soon called back to us, but a sunny locale beckoned. As we packed our things to leave that amazing place Jane filled me in on what was happening.
"An interview, sounds like fun, who will you be interviewing?"
"Stefanie Joosten"
"The actress who played Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V, I'm familiar with her."
"Hmm, Billy, it sounds like you are more than familiar."
"You got me there, Jane," I responded with a chuckle.
We continued to talk a little more about the game and the lovely lady she was to interview. Here were two women I highly admired, and one was my wife and she was to interview the other. The location was Barcelona, Spain. It was hot, sunny and the ideal weather for some debauchery.
We arrived in Barcelona a few days later, the weather was perfect. The sun shone bright amongst an endless blue sky. The location was not at a convention, or in a studio but rather close to the beach. Only a few other journalists were to interview Stefanie Joosten as well.
