"Good morning, Ms. Banxxx!" Piper said as she greeted her boss with a smile.

"Morning Piper." Naomi answered, with a straight face, as she approached the front desk. "How are you this morning?"

"I'm well!" Piper replied, cheerfully.

"Any messages?" Naomi asked.

"No messages. However, your husband called." Piper replied.

"Thanks. Did he leave any messages?" Naomi asked.

"Not really. He just told me to tell you that he had to leave on a business trip to Atlanta." Piper replied. "And that he'll be back tomorrow after dinner."

"Oh. Okay. I'll try to call him later." Naomi answered. "Oh and Piper? Please hold all my calls. I have a very important conference call to take. And it will last all morning."

"Okay, Ms. Banxxx. I'll take messages." Piper said. Naomi nodded.

Naomi walked past the front reception and approached her door. She opened the door and walked into her office. Naomi closed the door behind her. She walked to her desk and pulled out her chair. Naomi placed her briefcase on the desk. She opened her briefcase and took out some files and placed them on her desk, nest to her laptop. She then close her briefcase and placed it next to her desk. Naomi walked back to the door and removed her jacket. She grabbed a hanger off the hook and placed her jacket on the hanger. She then placed the hanger back on the hook.

Naomi walked back to her desk and sat on the chair. She turned on her laptop and waited while the machine started up. While she was waiting, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in." Naomi said.

The door opened and in walked Piper, holding a mug of steaming coffee.

"Why thank you, Piper!" Naomi said with a smile.

Piper headed for Naomi and put down the mug on the desk. "You're very welcome!" Piper replied. "Would there be anything else?" Piper asked.

"No." Naomi answered with a smile. "I'm fine now."

"Okay." Piper smiled, turned and headed for the door. She exited the office and closed the door behind her.

"What a great kid!" Naomi thought as she reached for her mug of coffee. She slowly took a slip of the hot coffee and put the mug back down.

"Okay. Where was I?" Naomi said to herself. "Oh yay."

Using the mouse, Naomi opened the Tommy Hilfiger folder. She then opened the file titled "Contract 2017". Naomi re-read the contract, making sure that all the pertinent information was there. Once she was satisfied with the verbiage, she reached for her mug and took another slip. She was ready for her presentation.

Naomi looked around her office and her gaze fell upon her degrees and awards. "Not too shabby." She thought.

Naomi grew up in the Bronx in a middle class neighbourhood. Her parents were both teachers. Her Mom was a Math teacher and her Father was an English teacher. She was the eldest child and had two brothers and one sister. One Brother relocated to California not too long ago to pursue his love for food and cooking. Her other Brother followed in their parents' footsteps and received his Bachelor's degree in Education from NYU and relocated across the Hudson to New Jersey. He teaches Math at a local high school. Naomi's sister decided to stay put and is currently enrolled at NYU in an Arts program.

Naomi has two degrees from NYU, a Bachelor's and a Master's in Business Marketing and Advertising. She worked for a very prestigious advertising company after graduation and has never looked back. Naomi decided to open her own advertising company five years ago and with her experience and knowledge, received many awards and accolades from the local businesses in the tri-state area.

Fifteen years ago, at a local advertising function, she met Lexington, a stock broker, also from New York and a very handsome man. They fell head over heels for each other. Ten years ago, they married and live in a suburb of NYC with their two children, a boy and a girl.

Now, Naomi is eyeing national and international businesses, starting with Tommy Hilfiger.

The phone suddenly rang. Naomi picked it up.

"Yes, Piper?" Naomi asked.

"It's your conference call, Ms. Banxxx!" Piper replied excitedly.

"Great! Put them through!" Naomi requested. "Hello! Banxxx Advertising. Naomi Banxxx speaking!"

"Yes. Good morning, Ms. Banxxx. Mr. James Deen, Vice President of Sales and Advertising from Tommy Hilfiger calling. How are you this fine morning?"

"I am well. And you?" Naomi answered.

"I am great!" Mr. Deen replied. "I was just going over your proposed contract with Mr. Hilfiger before calling you and he likes what he sees!"

"That is fantastic!" Naomi said, excitedly.

"Do you have the contract in front of you?" Mr. Deen asked.

"Indeed, I do, Sir!" Naomi replied.

"There is a very small change that Mr. Hilfiger would like you to consider. If you turn to page 3, about halfway down the page, it states the delivery date. Do you see that?' Mr. Deen said.

Naomi scrolled down to page 3. "I do." she said.

"Well, Mr. Hilfiger would like to see if you can deliver in three months rather than four. Will that be an issue?" Mr. Deen asked. "The reason is simple, really. He would like to be ahead of schedule for the fall collection!'

Naomi thought about the new delivery date. "Wow! It's going to be tight!"

"Ms. Banxxx? Any issue with the new date?" Mr. Deen asked again.

"I can do this! I have to do this!" Naomi thought. She then replied, "I do not see any problems with the new delivery date, Mr. Deen!"

"Very good, Ms. Banxxx! We have a deal then!" Mr. Deen said.

Naomi jumped out of her seat. "Absolutely! We do!" she answered with joy. Naomi was grinning from ear to ear.

"If you could make that small change and e-mail me the revised contract ASAP, I'll will make sure that Mr. Hilfiger signs it today. I will then e-mail the signed copy back to you before the end of business today." Mr. Deen explained.

"Consider it done, Mr. Deen! And thank you so much!" Naomi replied as she did a fist pump. "I cannot tell you how much this means to me!"

"Thank you, Ms. Banxxx!" Mr. Deen replied. "Our partnership will indeed help both firms!"

"Thank you!" Naomi replied. "Indeed it will!"

"Bye for now, Ms. Banxxx." Mr. Deen said.

"Bye for now and have a great day, Mr. Deen!" Naomi replied. She then hung up the phone.

Naomi let out a huge yell as she threw her head back and raised both hands into the air with jubilation. "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

The door opened and Piper poked her head in. She said, "Ms. Banxxx? Is everything alright?"

With a grin from ear to ear, Naomi exclaimed, "Everything is absolutely fantastic! We did it!"

"You got the deal!" Piper exclaimed. "Congrats Ms. Banxxx!"

"We got the deal!" Naomi exclaimed as she rushed to Piper and gave her a big hug. "Thank you coming in on your day off and typing up the contract!"

"You're very welcome, Ms. Banxxx!" Piper replied as she hugged Naomi back.

"Please call me Naomi!" Naomi said as she released her hold. "What time is it?"

"It's eleven forty-five, Naomi." Piper added.

"Lunch time! My treat!" Naomi said. "When we get back, there a small change to the contract I want you do."

"But I brought my lunch." Piper replied. "What's the change?"

"Save it for tomorrow!" Naomi replied. "We need to update the delivery date. That's all!"

"I'll put it in the fridge." Piper said. "Okay. Sounds easy enough."

"Great!" Naomi said. "You put your lunch in the fridge and I'll call Lexington with the good news. And then we'll go!"

Naomi gave Piper a quick hug.

"Sounds great! See you out front!" Piper replied.

Piper exited the office and closed the door behind her. Naomi sat down for a minute to collect herself. She was still ecstatic from the news. Once she calmed down, Naomi picked up the phone and dialed Lexington's cell number. She let it ring for a while and then it went to voice mail.

"Hello. You have reached Lexington Steele. I am unable to answer the phone right now but if you would kindly leave a message after the beep, I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you and have a wonderful day!" Beep!

Naomi decided to leave a message. "Hey Sweetheart! We did it! We got Tommy! How's Atlanta? Call me later! Love ya! Bye!" She thought it strange that Lexington didn't answer. However she thought nothing of it and hung up the phone.

"Usually, he answers right away when he sees my name pop up. Oh well. He must be busy. I call him after lunch." Naomi thought. She got up from her desk and walked to the door. Naomi retrieved her jacket and put it on. She then opened the door and exited her office. Naomi closed the door behind her.

As she headed to the front reception, Naomi noticed that Piper was ready and waiting for her.

"What a great kid! I'll have to give her a raise! She'll like that!" Naomi thought to herself.

"Shall we go?" Naomi said as she approached Piper.

Piper turned around and said, "Sure! Let's go!"

Both women headed for the front door. Piper went out first and held the door open for Naomi. Naomi thanked Piper for holding the door open for her as she exited the building. Naomi took Piper to her favourite restaurant.

After lunch was over, Naomi asked for the bill. She excused herself and went outside. Naomi pulled out her cell and called Lexington again. Still no answer because the call went to voice mail. Naomi didn't leave a message this time. Puzzled, she put her cell phone away and headed back into the restaurant.

"That's weird." Naomi said as she pulled out her chair and sat down.

"What's weird, Naomi?" Piper asked.

"Still no answer from Lexington." Naomi replied. "The number I dialed is correct but it keeps going to voice mail. What time did he call this morning?"

"At about nine." Piper replied.

"He told me last night that he had to be in the office early this morning for a breakfast meeting. So, when I woke up, he had already left the house." Naomi added. "I was running late because I had to drop the kids at school because their bus broke down."

"Oh. I see." Piper replied.

At the same time, the waiter showed up with the check and placed it on the table.

"May I offer you ladies anything else? Coffee? Tea?" the waiter asked.

Naomi looked at Piper and saw that Piper, with a slight smile, was eyeing the waiter.

"No. I think that will be all. Thank you." Naomi answered.

Naomi picked up her purse, opened it and pulled out a credit card. She placed the card onto the check tray.

"There you go, young man." Naomi said as she smiled at the waiter.

"Thank you, Ma'am! I'll be right back with the machine." the waiter said as he picked up the check tray and headed toward the front.

Naomi noticed that Piper was staring at the waiter the whole time.

Naomi leaned forward, smiling, and whispered to Piper, "Interested in that young man?"

Piper leaned forward and whispered, "I've seen him somewhere but I can't remember where."

"He is quite good looking." Naomi whispered. "Ask him his name.'

"He is and he's coming back." Piper whispered back. "No. It's embarrassing."

Both women leaned back.

"So, Piper. Any plans for the weekend?" Naomi said, louder than usual, as the waiter approached the table.

"No." Piper said as she stared at Naomi. Naomi smiled.

"Here you go, Ma'am. I just need you to swipe your card and enter your PIN." the waiter said as he presented Naomi with the credit machine.

"Thank you, err, ...I'm sorry,,, I've forgotten your name." Naomi said as she took the machine and swiped her card.

"It's Julian, Ma'am." Julian replied. Naomi entered her PIN into the machine and pressed the 'Enter' button.

"Any plans for the weekend, Julian?" Naomi asked as she looked at Piper. Piper gave a half-hearted smile.

"No, Ma'am. Unfortunately, I have to work." Julian replied.

Naomi gave the machine back to Julian. Julian looked at the display and tore off the receipt.

"Thank you so much, Ma'am! You've made my day!" Julian smiled.

"You're very welcome, Julian. The service was exceptional and the food is always great!" Naomi said.

Julian handed the receipt to Naomi.

"Thank you, Julian." Naomi said as Piper started to stand up.

Julian quickly scooted behind Piper and pulled her chair back.

"Thanks!" Piper said.

"No problem, Ma'am!" Julian replied.

"I'm no Ma'am." Piper said.

"Sorry Ma ... Sorry." Julian said as Naomi started to stand up.

Julian quickly scooted behind Naomi and pulled her chair back.

"Such a gentleman! Thank you, Julian!" Naomi said. "My assistant, Piper, is still young."

Julian picked up Naomi's jacket and held it open. Naomi slipped into her jacket.

"Thank you again." Naomi said as she smiled at Julian and stepped out into the aisleway.

"You're very welcome." Julian said as he pushed the chair in..

Piper stepped into the aisleway and Julian scooted around her and pushed in the chair.

"Bye Julian. Maybe I'll see you again." Naomi said as she turned and headed for the front foyer.

"Yup! Bye and thanks!" Piper said as she quickly walked by Julian, trying to catch up to Naomi.

Julian nodded and went about clearing the table for the next guests. Naomi and Piper both left the restaurant and headed back to the office. As Naomi walked by the window, she waved by to Julian and Julian waved back. Piper looked forward and kept on walking.

When they got back to the office, Naomi asked why Piper was kind of aloof when Julian was around them.

"How come you were unfriendly to Julian? Good looking guy, nice body and a nicer ass!" Naomi said. "And he was packing! Please tell me you didn't notice that! If I wasn't married, I'd be all over that!"

"Naomi? Stop it! You're making me blush!" Piper said as she blushed slightly.

"Aha! You were interested, weren't you? Some kind of persona you put on when you're around hot guys?" Naomi teased.

"Kinda." Piper admitted, shyly.

"Okay. Let's get down to business, shall we?" Naomi said. "Please pull up the contract."

"Okay." Piper said as she sat down in front of her computer. She pulled out the contract. "It's up."

"Go to page 3." Naomi instructed. "And change the delivery date from 4 months to 3 months."

"Page 3. Change 4 to 3. Done!" Piper said, excitedly. "Anything else?'

"Nope! That's it! Print it out and let's have a look!" Naomi requested.

Piper printed out the document and gave it to Naomi to proof-read it.

"Perfect!" Naomi said, enthusiastically. "Do you have a pen?'

Piper gave her a pen and Naomi signed on the dotted line. She gave the pen back to Piper.

"Please scan this and e-mail it to Mr. James Deen. Thank you." Naomi said as she gave the signed document back to Piper.

"Will do." Piper said as she spun around on her chair and turned on the scanner.

Piper proceeded to scan the document in. Once scanned, she showed it to Naomi. Naomi was all smiles.

"Please e-mail to James and I'll tell him that the document is on it's way." Naomi said, excitedly. "Please copy me as well! Thank you!"

Piper nodded her head as Naomi gave her the thumbs up sign.

"I'll be in my office. Please let me know when you have sent it." Naomi requested.

"I will." Piper reassured Naomi.

Naomi turned and headed back to her office. She opened her door and went in but this time, she left the door open.

"I think I'll try Lexington again." Naomi thought to herself.

She picked up the phone and dialed his number. It went into voice mail again. Naomi hung up without leaving a message.

"Where is this guy?" Naomi thought some more.

She walked around her desk and sat down. Naomi checked her e-mail and there was one unread e-mail in her inbox. It was the e-mail to James. Naomi opened the e-mail and read it. She also checked the attachment.

"Nice!" Naomi thought to herself. "I am going to give her a raise!"

There was a knock at the door. It was Piper.

"I sent it." Piper exclaimed.

"Yup! I see that!" Naomi replied. "Listen! Why don't you take the rest of the afternoon off? You deserve it!"

"But I need my full pay!" Piper pleaded.

"Not to worry. I'll pay in full!" Naomi replied. "Just a little thanks for your help! I call James! Now, scoot!"

"Thanks Naomi!" Piper replied with glee. "You don't have to tell me twice! See you tomorrow! Bye!"

"Bye Piper! See you tomorrow!" Naomi said.

Piper turned and left office quickly. Naomi picked up the phone and called James.

"Hello? James Deen, here." James answered.

"James? It's Naomi. Naomi Banxxx." Naomi replied.

"Hey Naomi! Tommy and I were just looking at the contract. Looks great! He and I have already signed off on it and I was just going to e-mail it back to you!" James said.

"Wonderful!" Naomi replied, excitedly.

"Just give me about half an hour! If you don't see the e-mail, give me a call back! Okay?" James said.

"Will do!" Naomi said. "Bye!" Naomi hung up the phone.

Naomi got up and headed for the front reception. Piper had already left and her workplace was so organized. Naomi smiled and nodded her head in approval. She headed for the coffee pot and poured herself a cup of cold coffee. She added two creams and two sugars. Naomi chugged it down. She put the mug down and headed back to her office. She walked around her desk and checked her computer. There was one unread message in her inbox and it was from James Deen. Naomi quickly opened the attachment and saw the two signatures. A huge smile came across her face.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Naomi shouted. She tried Lexington again to give me the great news but again, it went to voice mail.

"I'm taking the rest of the day off!" Naomi thought. "And I'm going home to celebrate with my family!"

Naomi quickly packed up her stuff and headed for the front door. As she reached the front reception, her cell phone rang. She answered it.

"Hello? Naomi speaking." Naomi said.

"Naomi? James here!" James replied.

"Hey James! I got the e-mail! Thank you so much!" Naomi said, excitedly.

"You're very welcome!" James replied. "Please stay in touch and of course, if you need help with anything, give me a call! I'll be more than happy to help Banxxx Advertising!"

"Will do!" Naomi said. "I'll get started right away!"

"I know you will!" James said. "Bye Naomi."

"Bye James!" Naomi replied as both hung up their phones at the same time.

Naomi did a huge fist pump. She put away her cell phone and headed for the front door. Naomi opened the door and let herself out. She closed and locked the door. Naomi headed around the corner to the parking lot. She opened the car door and climbed in. Naomi started her BMW X5 and lowered the driver side window. It was cool enough where she didn't require the A/C. Naomi turned on the radio, put the SUV into gear and headed home.

She, Lexington and their two children lives in a suburb of New York City, in an Upper-middle class neighbourhood. The neighbourhood was about a thirty minute drive from the office. When they were first married, Lexington suggested that they buy a house in a gated community. Naomi was totally against the idea of living in a segregated neighbourhood. Naomi always believe that society has to be inclusive. Her parents taught her to respect others. She eventually won out. However, she did send her children to a private school. She and Lexington decided to call it a tie.

As Naomi approached the house, she noticed a strange vehicle in her driveway. Puzzled, she pulled in and parked beside the SUV. The SUV was a BMW X5, just like hers, except the colour was different. She put her vehicle into 'Park' and raised the window. Naomi turned off the ignition and removed the key. She quietly sat inside her vehicle and looked over at the other SUV..
