My crew wouldn't show up for a few more hours since Xanthe and I had risen so early. I took a shower and shaved then brewed a second cup of coffee and flipped on the tv. Watching tv is a rare occurrence for me and I don't even have cable or satellite. I do have a wifi streaming service called philo - over seventy networks for only $20 per month. It's cheap because I don't get any of the three major over the air networks or sports channels, but the bar downstairs subscribes to those. I don't watch much sports personally but if there's a major game or big rivalry I'll usually keep at least one eye on it.
I did download the local stations' apps so i could watch the weather and major news. I opened the app for one of those and caught the morning news. Traffic in the city was a mess as usual, even though it was Sunday. At least the weather was supposed to be sunny and warm. After only fifteen minutes I closed the app and turned off the tv, unable to concentrate on anything. Thoughts of Xanthe consumed my mind.
I was falling in love with her. I wanted her to move in with me - crazy since we'd only met two days ago. I'd never felt this way about any woman, and certainly not this quickly. I'm normally very decisive and sure of myself but now I had no idea how to proceed.
At eleven I went downstairs and helped the crew prep for opening. We'd have a post-church lunch rush followed by the sports fans wanting to watch the games being televised today. Once we opened the doors and customers started trickling in I played the host, greeting those I knew which were the majority. We chatted like old friends, catching up on work and family events, talking about planned or recent vacations, and the like. I was deliberately attempting to distract myself from thinking about Xanthe. I wasn't successful.
My phone buzzed around twelve-thirty and I saw Xanthe's name pop up on the screen. I headed back to the elevator for privacy as I clicked the green button. "Hey gorgeous. How's the paper coming?"
"I'm done so I thought I'd see if the sexiest man I know might be available," she replied.
"Well, if he isn't let me know and I'll free up my afternoon. Did you have something specific in mind?"
"I do. A friend has a boat she keeps at the marina on the lake. She wasn't planning on using it today so I asked if I could borrow it. I thought we could pack a picnic lunch and do some cruising."
"Sounds great. I'll have the kitchen whip something up and swing by your place to pick you up," I told her.
"Great! Let me know when you head this way, hon. Bye for now!"
I stopped in the kitchen to tell the chef what I needed then headed upstairs to change into shorts and grab my sunscreen, hat, and towels. The kitchen had our picnic ready and even found a basket to pack it in. I texted Xanthe that I was on my way and went out the back door to my car.
She opened her front door before I'd even knocked, clearly having been standing right there, probably peering through the security peephole for me. "Hey sexy!" she greeted me.
"Hi beautiful! Are we ready to go?"
"Yup," she replied as she reached down and grabbed a beach tote. She wore tight white shorts that perfectly highlighted her gorgeous butt. Her sleeveless top was also white but wrapped with blue and yellow stripes, each about four inches wide. She'd pulled her hair back into a ponytail, fastened with a blue scrunchie.
