"You'll have to spend the night now. You'd get arrested if you walked out of here in that outfit!" I told her.
"We can't have that. This is only our second date and I never go to jail until at least the third," she said.
I excused myself and went into my bedroom. After brushing my teeth in the en suite I stripped off my clothes and donned fresh boxer briefs and the silk kimono I'd picked up during an R&R visit to Japan.
"Very nice," she said, rubbing the silk of my kimono between her fingers as I sat on the sofa next to her. "This is authentic, not one of the knock-offs they sell here in the States and to tourists in Asia."
"Yes, one of my military buddies was born in Japan before coming here when he was about nine. We had R&R in Japan - Honshu, of course. We climbed Mt. Fuji and spent time in Tokyo which is where I got this. He took me to a small shop off the tourist path where locals shop."
"He, and you, have good taste. I can tell this is Grade A mulberry silk, considered the finest in the world."
"Very good, that's exactly right. At least according to what he and the shopkeeper told me at the time. Of course, you'd likely know things like that after your modeling stint," I said.
"Yup, but even though you haven't asked, I'm also half Japanese - my Mom. Dad is black, or more accurately what they used to call mulatto. He's relatively light-skinned and most certainly has Caucasian blood somewhere in his ancestry. None of us have ever done a DNA test so just how much black and white I am is a mystery."
"Well, if you're interested I'm half Italian and half English. Dad's parents emigrated from northern Italy. His sister was a baby when they came over. Dad was born in the U.S. Mom's family emigrated from England to Nova Scotia Canada where they were all fishers. Mom and her older sister were born there before her parents came to the States. Three more sisters and one brother were born here," I explained.
"So if we ever have kids they'll be Italian English Japanese Blacks. Our own United Nations!" she grinned.
