Rhonda slid into the back of the black Cadillac Escalade, buzzing with excitement. She couldn't believe how her life had changed in just a year. This time last year, Rhonda would send her account negative just to buy a pass for the bus. Now she had a private driver. She checked her account again, the credit of forty-seven thousand dollars was the same as when it had been deposited into her account that morning. It was her biggest contract to date. A text message came up on her phone.
Jiselle: Congratulations. We'll have to celebrate this weekend.
'Definitely.' Rhonda responded. She closed her eyes and leaned back into the cool leather. This weekend. She would finally be meeting people who she currently only knew virtually. People who had helped her get to where she was now. Of course she would be seeing Shock for the second time. Rhonda bit her lip.
"Where to Ms. Sinclaire?" her driver Kevin asked, cutting into her reverie.
"Home, Kevin. Let's go home."
A few minutes later, Kevin pulled up to a large multi unit that she owned. She snagged it from sheriff's sale for a steal after her first wholesale deal. Rhonda lived in the top and largest apartment with her fiance Ryan. She renter out the other five apartments to families for 950 each.
Kevin climbed out of the car and came around the back to open her door and help her out of the escalade. "6:00 am Thursday, right?" He asked as he shut the door behind her.
Rhanda nodded. "Until then, enjoy your day off." She said handing him a hundred dollar bill.
Kevin grinned and nodded, "Thank you, Ms. Sinclaire. See you on Thursday."
Rhonda stopped at her mailbox and collected the mail before she continued up the steps to her apartment. There was a shut off notice for the light. Rhonda frowned, She and Ryan had decided she would pay the rent because she made more, and He would be responsible for the utilities, clearly he had fallen behind. In her apartment, Ryan sat at the computer, writing lines of code. She leaned over his shoulder and peaked at his work as she kissed him on the cheek. "Javascript?"
Ryan nodded with a sigh, "Not like it matters, I didn't get the job."
Rhonda rubbed his shoulder, "I'm sorry babe."
He shrugged from under her touch. Before closing his computer and turning to face her. "How was your day?"
Rhonda shuffled the shut off notice into her mail before handing Ryan his. "Boring." She lied. She went into the kitchen and pulled open the menu drawer. "What do you want to eat?"
"I remember when you used to cook." Ryan quipped from the other room.
Rhonda stifled her irritation with an eye roll. "I can't choose between greek and thai."
Ryan sighed, "We had greek last week."
"Thai it is." she said pushing the drawer shut.
"Your packages came today." He nodded towards bags across the couch.
