So, this is my foray into Romance. This story is one that has basis in real life. It is something I should have done years ago, but courage and situation never coincided, so this is just a fantasy for me. The names have been changed to protect the guilty. If you have read my other works, you will know I mostly write Non/Con, Mind Control and a dabble into Erotic Horror. I hope you enjoy, praise and criticism welcome, just try not to be rude or cruel, this is a romance story after all.

Evilyn sat in her living room staring at the clock on the wall. She had been sitting there for an hour now. His plane was supposed to have landed over an hour ago. He hadn't called or texted. She was getting worried. Would he really show up? It had been 23 years since they had last seen each other. He had just been discharged from the army, she could tell he was still in love with her, but she was seeing someone else. He had always been a gentleman about these things. Never telling her how he felt, just being her friend. Always there when she needed him. So where the hell was he now?
They had been talking and texting for weeks since his divorce. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. She rushed to the door, then slowed herself. Damned if he was going to see her acting like a giddy school girl. She was a mature mother of three, not a love struck teenager. She calmly opened the door and there he was, standing there, that smug look on his face. He had a hand behind his back as he leaned against the door jamb. He smiled down at her and produced a single red rose. Holding up to his nose he sniffed it and then offered it to her.
"Sorry I am late, do you know how hard it is to find the perfect rose in New Hampshire?" he asked chuckling. "And nothing less than perfection would do for you."
She took the rose from him and smiled back. He reached down and caressed her cheek softly. "So, you up for some dinner?"
"Uhm, where are we going?" she asked.
"The Granite" He said.
"Oh jeez, I guess I have to dress up." She said.
"Yup" he said as he grinned.
Evilyn shook her head and grinned back, she went upstairs and searched through her wardrobe. She heard the front door close. She found a little black dress that came to her knees and black stockings. She heard the front door open and close again. She stripped down and looked at herself in the mirror. She had to admit she looked damned good after three kids. She slipped the stockings on, it felt nice to have to dress up again, and the stockings felt good on her skin. She slipped the dress on and it showed off her figure nicely.
She never heard him walk in, and only noticed him when she felt him zip up the dress for her. "You look amazing as always Evi." He said. Evi, she hadn't heard that nickname in a long time. It brought back memories of the beach in the summer time, laughing and listening to music, and relaxing in the sun, or just cruising Elm Street on a Friday night.
She looked him over, he had changed clothes himself. Now he was wearing black slacks and a maroon shirt and black dress shoes. He looked ready for a night on the town. Her heart fluttered; she felt the same for him as he did for her all those years. Neither saying anything to the other, both cherishing their friendship too much. Now here they were, and she could see her desire mirrored in his eyes, but he was being patient. Two could play that game.
He offered her his arm. "Shall we go, my dear?" and she giggled for the first time in a long time.
"Why sir, I would be honored." She took his arm and they both laughed, totally at ease with each other.
Though this would technically be their first date, they knew each other so well, and really were so much alike, they were completely comfortable in each other's company.
When they got outside, she saw the car he had rented. It was a 2016 black BMW. Seems they were riding in style. As they approached the car, he opened the door for her. On the seat was a box of chocolates. He looked at her and grinned as he picked them up and handed them to her. She took them from him and he held her hand as she got in the car. She put her purse on the floor and buckled up as he got in the car.
They drove down the road, and he reached over and turned on the radio. She laughed as Weird Al came on, Amish Paradise. They both started singing along to it. By the time they got to the restaurant they were just finishing Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer. They entered the Granite, the premier five-star restaurant in Concord New Hampshire.
The Maรฎtre de approached them "Do you have a reservation?" he asked.
Dave stepped forward "Yes, David Twist." He said smiling at Evilyn.
The Maรฎtre de looked down at the list. "Ah here you are. Right this way sir, ma'am."
He led them to a table in a corner booth. It had a full table cloth and a lit candle as a center piece. David motioned for Evi to slide in first and he followed her in. When the waiter arrived, he ordered them a 2011 bottle of Justine Isosceles.
Evi raised her eyes when she saw it was a $145 bottle. He just smiled at her. The waiter nodded. They made small talk about kids, failed marriages and their jobs while waiting for the wine. They had perused the menu and knew what they wanted. Conversation was easy and David rested his hand on her thigh. She turned and smiled at him, and did the same.
The waiter came back with their wine and glasses, and he poured their first glass. "Will you be ordering now, or do you need more time?" he asked, noticing their hands under the table and the smile on the lady's face.
"I think we are ready" Dave told him. He turned to Evi, "Do you mind?"
