For a second my mind went blank; which wasn't a normal thing for me. Her words just took me by complete surprise. We had been together for eight months and yet I completely forgot to think about how I'd respond to such a situation. The more my mind began to try and decipher my feelings, the more I realized just how fast time had gone by. The longer I failed to come up with a response, the deeper into thought I became.
For a second I managed to stop my mind from whirling only to let out a, "I don't know what to say."
"It's okay, I understand. It isn't that easy for you, right?" She put her hand on my head and started to rub it.
"I'm not a child, you know?" I grabbed her hand for a second, and looked at it. It seemed so small and delicate compared to my own; even if it was relatively normal I'd imagine. There was just something about her that always made me want to protect her.
While I was distracted, she stole a kiss of my lips. It was just a light kiss, but every time her lips touched mine, my heart became all jittery. When we parted, her face stood right in front of mine.
She looked into my eyes and with a smile, repeated her words before, "I really do love you, you know? You're the sweetest guy I've ever met. When I'm sad you make me happy like no one else can, and when I'm angry you manage to calm me down so I can think clearly again." She paused for a moment, "do you ever get tired of hearing all of this?" her smile disappeared, "sometimes I feel like I'm so taken by you and that maybe you think it's annoying."
"No, I don't." I decided to return her smile to her, "You're smart, kind, unique, loving, and so much more. I love everything about you. I love you too."
"Do you really mean that? I mean, I know that after everything with your parents it can be hard to love someone but I swear if you really do mean it I'll always be here for you and I'll always-" Her eyes began to water.
Before she could continue I cut her off with another quick kiss. "Yes, I do. I love you so much; you mean the world to me."
"Then, will you show me how much you love me?" She took her hands on my shoulders and pushed me over onto the sofa we had been sitting on. Her face ended up right before mine as she waited for my answer. I felt nervous, but I knew I wanted to experience the world with her.
