I met Debolina on 28 June 2**7, the day of my interview at **** University. I was a fresher who had recently completed his PhD in engineering from a very reputed college and was really confident of landing this job. She was checking her mobile when I walked into the waiting room before our interviews.
I took the sofa to her side and made myself comfortable. She looked up from her mobile and smiled. I smiled back, conscious that a lady, a good looking lady actually, was greeting me.
"Which department?" she asked. Her voice was deep which was somehow not fitting her personality. She was short in height, had neck length hairs, was wearing a saree which was clearly not her regular attire (she carried it with difficulty) and was having a cute smile on her face. All in all I expected a squeaky, childish kind of voice. But she had a rich sound.
"Nuclear Engineering," I answered, pushing these thoughts back, "You?"
"Humanities. Geography to be precise."
"Nice!" I said, not knowing how to continue the conversation.
"First interview?" she asked, clearly taking an interest in continuing the talk.
"Actually yes. How did you know?" I was surprised.
She chuckled, "You do not have the documents folder in your hands. It is the first thing that they always ask and you should stumble around in front of the committee."
I hurriedly opened my laptop bag and started taking out the folder.
She laughed out loud. "Arey baba. Chill. It's no big deal. I didn't mean to freak you out"
"No. Actually, Thank you. You seem to have given a lot of interviews"
"Yeah. This is my..." she paused to think for a second "seventh interview. Before this I have worked in 6 different universities."
"Wow!! You a veteran." I laughed, she seemed easy going enough and I relaxed "Which was your last place of work?"
