We arrived at the resort a few days before her birthday. When Marcie saw the itinerary with the name of her dream place on it, she was surprised. That word was probably the wrong one to use because she was beyond surprised. It kind of reminds me of when we discussed our wedding.
Marcie initially wanted to have an engagement party in March because her eldest brother recommended it. A little while later, we were discussing making it a surprise wedding instead. When her sister arrived to visit after her husband walked out, the thought went back to an engagement party two weeks later. After being convinced by Aubrey, she consented to the wedding again. (The moment she consented was Good Neighbors 159.) We were able to get everything accomplished within those two weeks and Marcie was beyond surprised. That was until her brother-in-law made some trouble when he tried to get June back and I sent him to jail for it. (Marcie and Leo Ch. 1)
The fact we were in the lobby of the resort that she saw in a magazine was the first real look of surprise on her face since then. There was a plethora of emotions between the time the Uber took us to the airport and the other Uber dropped us off in front of the main building. We started walking towards the front desk. An attractive attendant saw us and smiled.
"Welcome to the Viata Resort. I take it you have a reservation?"
I presented my Identification.
"Mr. and Mrs. Mercer."
She looked at my card and smiled.
"We've been expecting you. We have you booked and ready. We'll have the attendant take your bags to your room. Please enjoy your stay."
Marcie was still quiet. I looked at her and smiled before I took her hand in mine.
"You okay, Beloved?" I asked.
She nodded in response before we started walking behind the bellhop. As we entered the elevator, she started talking again.
"What was I thinking?" she asked.
