(Hello gentle reader,

This would be the second part of Marcie's birthday. I started writing it thinking it was going to be a three chapter arc, but I may have bit off more than I can chew. I want to see where it goes, but want to set up for the next chapter in this one.

My thanks to all the folks who have read this series and it's predecessor. Before these two series, I had never written a long series before. I just found so much interest in the main characters that imagining their journey was a wonderful exercise.

Of course, without the inspiration and support of the woman who Marcie is based on, it would have never started again. My gratitude and love goes to her as well.

So let's see how Leo presents his gift to Marcie.

Thank you,

Azul)

Whenever Marcie is returning from a trip, I am always excited. There are obvious reasons, of course. However, for the yoga retreat, I was more excited because of the trip I booked for us to visit a resort that Marcie was interested in. While she was having her girl time with Nikki, I was arranging her dream trip. It took Matt to give me the information, Aubrey to confirm that she remarked on it and Matt's sister-in-law to help me get it. The rest of the week, it took so much effort to not spill the beans and hope that she didn't read my mind like she could do.

It was this frame of mind where I started when it was the day she was returning from her trip. It started with a trip to the flower shop to get some flowers. I was able to arrange them on our dining room table along with the same box she used for a Christmas present to me back when we were dating. To mask the thoughts in my head, I kept thinking about dinner and seeing her.

A quick note is in order about my thoughts about her being psychic because I have alluded to it many times during both series. Marcie just has the appearance that she can read my mind. I'm not saying she is clairvoyant, but it is more of the point that it seemed to happen many times. It may be that I have no poker face. It may be that I am easy to read when I get excited about surprises and such. All that may be true. And I own that.

When Nikki's car drove up, I walked out to see my wife getting out of the car. Of course, Nikki was being Nikki.

"Looks like your white knight was coming out to escort you to your castle, Princess," she remarked before both girls began to laugh and my face turned a rosy hue.

As I helped grab her luggage from Nikki's trunk, the girls were hugging each other. Then Nikki wrapped her arms around me and hugged me before whispering in my ear.

"She's going to attack you, Romeo. I hope you ate your Wheaties."

I was blushing as Marcie neared us before Nikki went back to her car and was getting ready to drive off. Before she did, Marcie grabbed my neck and laid in the biggest kiss on my lips. It was interrupted by Nikki, of course.

"Get a room!" she yelled after she honked her horn before driving off.

We stood there still kissing as Nikki drove away. It was when we stopped for air that Marcie smiled at me.

"That was such a good trip, but I missed you so much, Leo," she confessed. "Still, it was a good girl trip. Were you okay while I was gone?"

"It was quiet," I replied, already feeling my heartbeat faster.

"Dinner, huh?" she asked.

"I was trying to decide whether we wanted to go out or eat in. I wasn't sure..." I replied almost instinctually.

As we entered the house, she looked over at the dining room table and saw the flowers.

"Flowers, Leo?" she asked. "You didn't have to. But still I am flattered. Why?"

"I missed you," I started. "And you have a special day coming up."

She paused before she started to tear up.

"You didn't have to, Leo. I mean, one of the downsides of that trip was..."

I hugged her close before I kissed her. She started to melt in my arms as we kissed. I could feel her body just soften against me. It was as we pulled back again that I explained.

"I get to have you in my life for another year. Just that fact is always worth celebrating."

She smiled at me before wiping her eyes.

"I think you're starting to read my mind more often," she said.

"I wish, Amor. Sometimes I wish I could. It would make some things easier sometimes."

As she looked at the flowers, she saw the box. She walked closer to the table to retrieve it before she looked at it.

"This looks familiar. Is it..."

"This was the box where you surprised me with the instructions when we went to the Christmas concert at the university. It felt right for what I have in store for us."

She took the top off carefully. When she saw a piece of paper, she looked at me.

"Leo?" she asked, looking at me.

I just stood there smiling. I then watched as she took out the paper inside. As she unfolded the stationery, she saw another piece of paper folded inside it. She was about to unwrap it when I stopped her.

"Read the note first," I said.

It was getting difficult to keep my mind not thinking about it. I kept thinking about dinner. She started to read the note. I made sure to use similar stationery that she used for the note she left me. (Good Neighbors 116)

"Dear Marcie, thank you for making me the happiest man in the world. I had to break one of your rules because I discovered something you wanted to experience. I hope you unfold the other piece of paper, and this birthday present shows you how much I want to make you happier than you make me. You deserve the world, Amor. Until that day comes, I hope this will tide you over. Your husband, Leo."

She looked at me with those glistening eyes again before she unfolded the other piece of paper. As she looked over the itinerary, she was in a bit of shock.

"Leo, how did..."

"I have my sources. It's okay."

"No, it's not," she resisted. "It's almost a thousand dollars a night. I mean, it's a wonderful fantasy to be pampered like that, but we can't..."

"Marcie," I started. "If you want me to cancel it, I will. We can afford it. I want to do this for you and with you. You deserve way more than this. But it is your choice. This is my gift to you. Can we go?"

She paused for what felt like an eternity.

"I am prepared to convince you, if necessary, my pet," I said in my Dom voice.

The shock of hearing my voice like that caused her to melt more. She slowly nodded her head and smiled before she grabbed my hand and led me to the bedroom.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"You said you were prepared to convince me, Master," she replied with that seductive look in her face. "I'm holding you to it."
