(Hello gentle reader,
This would be the second part of Marcie's birthday. I started writing it thinking it was going to be a three chapter arc, but I may have bit off more than I can chew. I want to see where it goes, but want to set up for the next chapter in this one.
My thanks to all the folks who have read this series and it's predecessor. Before these two series, I had never written a long series before. I just found so much interest in the main characters that imagining their journey was a wonderful exercise.
Of course, without the inspiration and support of the woman who Marcie is based on, it would have never started again. My gratitude and love goes to her as well.
So let's see how Leo presents his gift to Marcie.
Thank you,
Azul)
Whenever Marcie is returning from a trip, I am always excited. There are obvious reasons, of course. However, for the yoga retreat, I was more excited because of the trip I booked for us to visit a resort that Marcie was interested in. While she was having her girl time with Nikki, I was arranging her dream trip. It took Matt to give me the information, Aubrey to confirm that she remarked on it and Matt's sister-in-law to help me get it. The rest of the week, it took so much effort to not spill the beans and hope that she didn't read my mind like she could do.
It was this frame of mind where I started when it was the day she was returning from her trip. It started with a trip to the flower shop to get some flowers. I was able to arrange them on our dining room table along with the same box she used for a Christmas present to me back when we were dating. To mask the thoughts in my head, I kept thinking about dinner and seeing her.
A quick note is in order about my thoughts about her being psychic because I have alluded to it many times during both series. Marcie just has the appearance that she can read my mind. I'm not saying she is clairvoyant, but it is more of the point that it seemed to happen many times. It may be that I have no poker face. It may be that I am easy to read when I get excited about surprises and such. All that may be true. And I own that.
When Nikki's car drove up, I walked out to see my wife getting out of the car. Of course, Nikki was being Nikki.
"Looks like your white knight was coming out to escort you to your castle, Princess," she remarked before both girls began to laugh and my face turned a rosy hue.
As I helped grab her luggage from Nikki's trunk, the girls were hugging each other. Then Nikki wrapped her arms around me and hugged me before whispering in my ear.
"She's going to attack you, Romeo. I hope you ate your Wheaties."
I was blushing as Marcie neared us before Nikki went back to her car and was getting ready to drive off. Before she did, Marcie grabbed my neck and laid in the biggest kiss on my lips. It was interrupted by Nikki, of course.
"Get a room!" she yelled after she honked her horn before driving off.
