I laid down on the ground, the grass tickling the back of my neck. Looking up at the stars, my first, and only, known constellation blinked down at me. Orion's belt was always the easiest to find.
The light breeze that caressed my skin had me letting out a blissful sigh, my eyes sliding closed. If you really use your imagination, you can almost feel the invisible hands of the wind as it strokes your arm. Starting at the back of your hand, and slowly trailing its feather-light touch up. Up to your shoulder, across your collar bone, and curling around your neck, then disappearing.
There one moment, gone the next.
Instead of opening my eyes, I lay there, under the moon, and listened. I could hear the crickets, the tree frogs. Dogs in the distance, barking at one another from across streets.
I felt myself slowly relaxing into the ground. The sounds around me dulling to a small buzz, easy to tune out. I was completely relaxed, and not willing to move a single muscle. Because relaxation meant I could feel my body buzzing. Vibrating. As if I was in another skin, and all I had to do was slowly unzip it.
I imagined everything that made me happy. A warm fire crackling in a hearth, a nice cozy blanket made of animal fur so soft that it can't be helped but to rub your face against it, and a book with a dark plot and a lot of smut. A warm cup of coffee, nestled between my fingers while watching the sunrise and painting the sky a beautiful rainbow of colors. The sound of raindrops hitting a window and making the glass look like it's crying.
I felt like I was glowing, and in my mind, it was a pure silver color. It radiated out from my body. And then I felt like I was flying. Or falling. I couldn't tell which. I felt my body jerk, and my eyes popped open. I tried to focus on the stars, looking for Orion's Belt.
