George stretched as the sound of small feet thumping across the wood floors upstairs woke him from his slumber. He slowly opened his eyes, the vague memory of a dream flickering across his consciousness, his mind desperately trying to hold onto it but feeling it slip away. Anna lay across from him, curled up with a cat lounging above her on her pillow as usual. George smiled to himself, everyday feeling the same sense of wonder and gratitude to be alongside his best friend. Her soft brown hair lay in slight waves across her face as she smiled softly in her sleep. George didn't want to get up - he would rather stay in bed all day but increasingly loud calls of "Daaaaad" from the TV room forced him into action.
He slowly slid out of bed, taking one last glance at his love before closing the door behind him. The children were full of energy, much like every morning. Soon calls for various TV shows, breakfast orders and general questions and issues of the day consumed his mind, taking him further and further away from the dream, the feeling of Anna against him breathing softly against his chest. He smiled softly, pouring another bowl of cereal, though his mind remained in bed with Anna "OK, who wanted the fruit loops?"
With the children satisfied and playing together, George went about his morning routine. Something about the process of shaving soothed him, making him focus on the methodical process of running the electric razor over his cheeks and chin. Though being clean shaven made him look younger, his glance up into the mirror still caught the reflection of a man who was unmistakably a dad. He ran his hand through his hair, content with his latest haircut that kept it a little long on top, enough to play with and sweep to one side. After a final check on the children, he turned on the shower and stepped inside.
Anna woke slowly as sunlight streamed through the curtains, rolling over and feeling the empty but still warm spot where George had been. The sound of lego rustling with excited conversation from the children told her it was a good morning so far, and she savored the morning a little longer. Her phone buzzed beside her, check-in details for their cabin for the weekend. A wave of excitement filled her as she stretched, petting the cat above her. Their friends Jess and Mark were finally tying the knot after a long engagement, the wedding day pushed back by finances and a global pandemic among other things. But when they had finally chosen a romantic, secluded mountain venue for their special day, it made perfect sense for George and Anna to use it as a long overdue excuse for a long weekend getaway. *One more day* she thought to herself, smiling, excited for the time to celebrate and relax. She slowly sat up, the cat bouncing up off the pillow with her, anticipating breakfast for herself. Her phone buzzed again with work emails, people needing inputs from her urgently, anticipating her absence even if it was only for one extra day. Anna sighed, putting the phone down for now *One more day*.
After stepping past mountains of assorted toys piled haphazardly in the hallway, quickly diffusing an argument over who's turn it was with a toy car and starting the coffee machine, Anna quietly snuck into the bathroom. The shower had filled the room with a warm, humid scent of cleanliness, and she leaned against the sink, watching George. A smile crept across her face, watching her husband as he ran his hands through his hair, head back enjoying the energization that only a morning shower could bring to him. Her eyes wandered over his torso, taking him all in, never tiring of his quintessential *dad bod*. Still he didn't notice her, lost in his thoughts, groaning softly as he stretched out his tired muscles. Anna bit her lip as her gaze drifted between his legs, the side view doing him no harm at all. Thick and long, even while soft, she felt a familiar hum of excitement, a small shot of arousal though her as he washed himself all over. His hands always moved with precise care and attention over his groin. She could watch him all day. "Mooooom, where are you?" came a voice, followed quickly by the sound of running feet as three children burst into the bathroom. George's eyes came open, squinting though the soap and meeting Anna's. "Enjoying the show?" he said, grinning as Anna walked out with a parting wink, shepherding the children out to get ready for school.
George had just finished shaving as Anna hurried the kids out of the door with a quick wave and a shout of "I love you!" George started to brush his teeth, counting to ten in his head as he wandered around the house, scanning the floor for the inevitable forgotten item one of the children had left behind and would just now be remembering. Sure enough, he heard the backdoor beep as Anna rushed back in, swearing under her breath at the familiar morning routine, before George handed her the stuffed toy "Thbis un ight?" he mumbled through a mouthful of toothpaste, grinning at her. She flashed a smile at him that never failed to warm him from the inside out, and squeezed his ass affectionately while planting a soft kiss on his smooth cheek. "Thanks handsome" she whispered in his ear, letting her hand linger for just a moment before dashing back to the waiting car.
Later that morning, as much as George wanted to focus on the next in a series of increasingly pointless meetings, his mind drifted to Anna and their weekend ahead. He pulled open his Vrbo app, looking through the pictures of the cabin he had rented for them. While the wedding venue had cabins available for guests, George had wanted to spring for a little extra luxury and privacy to treat them, after what had been a long time without a getaway. He flicked through the pictures of the deluxe rainforest shower, jaccuzi bathtub, grand bedroom overlooking the mountainside. He couldn't wait to get there and relax with Anna in his arms, to enjoy the peace and quiet while feeling her breath against his cheek, her bare breasts against his chest. His mind had wandered to the feeling of her hand wrapping around his thick length when he noticed an expectant silence on the call. "George, could you give your update?" said his manager, frustration in the tone as George wondered how long the group had been waiting to hear from him as he was lost in daydream. "Of course, sorry, I was on mute" George replied, clearing his throat and doing his best to focus his mind on his work, and not on his wife's heavenly body.
Anna took a deep breath, and let herself relax for just a moment. It had been a hell of a morning already. The universe seemed to be aware of her excitement for the long weekend, and was determined to make her earn it. Tedious traffic on the way to the kids school and a long line at Starbucks for her dirty Chai Tea had only been the warm up act for the mountain of emails waiting for her, paperwork spilling over the edge of her desk and two reports due by the end of the day. She had pushed through, multi-tasking on two screens in a blur of activity, powered by the hit of caffeine and the pull of the weekend, so close. And now, she could pause, take a breath before going again. She checked her watch *Nearly lunch already* she thought to herself, as her phone buzzed.
