College Begins
With the help of their parents, Max and Linda had a smoothly transitioned into their college dorms. Luckily for the young neighbors, they were in the same building. One side was for women and the other side was for men.
Max was surprised to learn his roommate was a senior. It wasn't completely uncommon for seniors to live in the dorms. However, Max's roommate did because it was the cheapest option for him.
His name was Blake, and he spent most of his time at work or in class. Max noticed he was short in conversation, almost as if he didn't want to be friends. Though he thought it was strange, he could understand a senior not wanting to be friends with a freshman.
Unlike Max, Linda immediately hit it off with her roommate, Patricia. They had a lot in common and had similar views of what wanted out of college. Most importantly, they were both eager to go to parties and meet cute guys.
While Max's biggest priority was getting his living situation established, Linda and her new roommate prioritized making friends in the common area of the dorm. They met some other girls in the lobby who were also excited to party.
"Is anyone here thinking about joining a sorority?" one girl asked.
"Sorority?" Linda never even considered it, but she knew they had a reputation for partying.
"There are a bunch of parties on Greek Row tonight."
Linda's eyes suddenly lit up. "There are?"
"They always do on move-in day," one girl answered. "It's their opportunity to meet the new students and show them what their organizations are all about."
"I heard the parties are crazy!" Patricia added.
"It's our first day and we're already going to party?" Linda asked with an enthusiastic tone. "I think I'm going to enjoy college life."
The girls were excited from talking about their plans for the night. Wherever the party and drinks were, that's where they wanted to be.
Max was in no rush to make friends. He took his time, not wanting to put pressure on himself to meet people. Unlike Linda, he had no intentions on partying.
All the beautiful girls on campus actually impressed him. However, he didn't plan on introducing himself to anyone just because they were attractive. It felt strange to meet girls when he already had a complicated relationship with Linda.
Max was the furthest thing from Linda's mind. It's not that she was eager to find a boyfriend. She was just ready to have some hot guys in her life, after fantasizing about it all throughout high school.
"There is a huge party at one of the frat houses tonight," Patricia informed the group. "There will probably be a lot of frat guys."
"Frat guys?!" Linda asked as her eyes grew big. "I like the idea of meeting frat guys!"
"Let's go!" the ladies all cheered.
When they got to the party, Linda thought it looked like a scene out of a movie. There was loud music, people running around, and a lot of drinking.
Patricia and Linda had fun meeting a bunch of cute guys, despite none of them leaving a lasting impression. The attention alone was enough for them to enjoy their night. However, that instantly changed as they noticed a man enter the party fashionably late.
Although Linda had already seen plenty of guys that were her type, this one was a picture-perfect representation of her dream man. He looked cool and had a loud personality to match his looks. He had his hair slicked back with a tight t-shirt that showed off his muscles.
Linda couldn't take her eyes off him. "Who is that?"
As Patricia started asking the other frat guys, one of them answered, "That's Jake. He's from one of the other frats, but he knows everyone and is a big part of Greek life."
"Jake..." Linda repeated to herself, quietly.
While they continued their fun night, Linda made sure to keep an eye out. After a few drinks, the guy that caught her attention suddenly made his way to the group.
"Hello ladies," Jake said with a suave voice. "Are you all having a good time?"
"Yes, we are," Linda replied with her googly eyes.
"My name is Jake and I'm with the fraternity across the street. Are you all freshmen?"
The young brunette felt a little intimidated. He looked like an upperclassman, and she was nervous to admit she was only eighteen. Before she could answer, Patricia jumped in and confirmed that this was their first year.
Jake was unfazed as if he expected it and transitioned into an invitation of his own. "You ladies should definitely come check out the party we're having on Saturday night."
Feeling her heart jump, Linda responded, "That would be cool." She couldn't believe an older guy would personally invite her to a party.
"Awesome!" Jake said with a confident smile. Before he left, he asked every girl for their name.
As the handsome frat guy was leaving, Linda noticed something that made her feel warm inside. "I think he winked at me," she whispered to Patricia.
The fun roommate opened her mouth in shock. "Did he?!"
"I think so..." Linda responded, trying to make sure she wasn't imagining it. "Maybe he just does that with everyone."
"Maybe," Patricia said, thinking about Jake's overall persona. "He didn't wink at me, but he does seem like a player."
"He's so hot though," Linda finally admitted.
Patricia nodded her head in agreement. "I think we should go to that party on Saturday."
"I think we should too..."
Once the party was over, the girls walked back to their dorm. They were all so chatty after having such a fun night of drinking and were eager to do it again.
There was only one thing on Linda's mind. She couldn't wait to see Jake again on Saturday night. However, as excited as she was, she felt there was something important that she had forgotten about.
"Was this your first-time drinking?" Patricia asked, interrupting her thoughts.
"What?"
"You're handling yourself so well," the roommate expanded. "I was wondering if this was your first time."
"I've only drank a few times," Linda pointed out. "I wanted to limit myself so I wouldn't get too drunk tonight."
"Me too! Two or three drinks is my Max."
Linda laughed but then came to a complete stop as thought popped into her head.
Your max... Your max... Your...
Suddenly she shouted, "MAX!"
"Whoa!" the girls reacted as they also came to a halt. "What was that?"
Linda looked around quickly. "I'm sorry! I just forgot about a friend that I was supposed to meet with. His name is Max."
"Who's this Max?" Patricia asked, leaning in curiously.
"He was just my neighbor from back home," Linda answered. "We agreed to meet up."
"Ooooh, that sounds fun. Are you sure he's not your boyfriend?"
"He's
not
my boyfriend," Linda said as she made a disgusted face. "But I need to catch up with him."
She immediately texted Max and asked him where he was. Though the responsible boy thought they would meet earlier, he knew that punctuality was never one of her strong points. "I still want to see you. Do you want to see me?"
Unfortunately, it was late, and Max was quite tired. "I do but I'm about to sleep."
"Can I ask you a big favor?" the mischievous brunette asked.
"What is it?"
"I know I should have asked earlier but I really need to get some toiletries. There aren't any stores close enough for me to walk. Can you drive me?"
Max was annoyed but he would never deny Linda when she asked for help. He willed himself out of bed and got dressed, just so he could take her to the store.
They met in the parking lot where they immediately got into his car. When Linda sat down and laid her eyes on Max, she realized how happy she was to see him. After all the craziness of her first day, it was nice to just be alone with her former neighbor.
"So, what have you been up to?" Max asked. He didn't want to interrogate her, but he couldn't help but wonder why she was out so late.
"I went to a frat party with my roommate."
Max looked a little surprised. "You're into Greek life?"
A strange feeling came over Linda when she talked to Max about the frat party. She knew he wasn't the type of person to attend something like that. Most importantly, she didn't want to talk to him about the guy she met.
"My roommate likes to party," she responded, trying to keep it simple. "I didn't want her to go alone, so I went with her."
The young man just nodded his head. "Sounds like you guys really hit it off."
"She's actually really fun," Linda expressed. "How is your roommate?"
"He seemed cool but wasn't very talkative. He's older, so maybe he's just focused on his work."
"Sounds kind of like you," Linda joked. Unfortunately, when she said that, something crossed her mind. "I wonder if we'll ever be able to do stuff now that we have roommates."
Though Linda didn't want to lose her sexual relationship with Max, she realized things were now different. He was no longer the only guy in her life. There was actually a possibility of meeting a hot guy now that she was in college.
As they arrived at the store, Linda noticed how intent Max was on helping her. His willingness to help her was always something she took for granted but it was a quality of his that she was learning to appreciate. The more time they spent together, the more she remembered how good she felt when she was around him.
She didn't want to lead him on, just in case she found another guy, but it felt so easy to flirt with him at the store. It took her back to the time they went out to buy ice cream for her parents. Although it ultimately led to their first sexual encounter, what stood out most was that it was the first time they had fun just hanging out together.
"So, I have a question," she finally said, thinking about their ever-evolving relationship.
Max was driving them back from the store, but he was still attentive. "Yes?"
"Since we both have roommates now, do you think we will ever be... alone?"
"I really don't know," the boy responded. It was something he had been thinking about but didn't want to bring up. "My roommate said he's gone most of the time, but I think it would be pretty risky to sneak around like that."
Linda smiled as she stared out the window. "It
