The next day at work, I clocked in to turn around and run into Jason who was standing behind her waiting to clock in. I looked up at him in shock, trying to clear my head. It was fairly early in the morning and I was still going on in my head about my dream last night.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't see you behind me.." I said
He chuckles and says "That's alright. How are you doing?"
"I'm........ I'm alright.." I say, trying my hardest to not think of that dream. "Just tired. I had kind of a weird dream last night. Guess its still with me."
"Oh? What kind of dream was it?" He says intrigued.
As i feel my face start to get red, I instantly tried to change the topic. "Oh, nothing that interesting," I can't help but blush more because of how ridiculously false that statement was. "How are you doing today, Jason?"
"I'm pretty good. Just waiting to clock in," He smiles pointing at the clock behind me. "Kinda can't get paid if I don't clock in." He chuckles.
"Oh, right," I said as I moved to the side so he could clock in. "Sorry."
"That's alright." He finished clocking in and turns around and looks at me. There was an awkward silence between the two of us for a minute.
"Well," I said breaking the silence. "I guess we should get to work." I started to walk away to start my shift.
"Hey, Emily?" He calls after me.
"Yeah?" I said a little too excited that he said my name.
"I was wondering," he says walking towards me. "What are your plans after work?"
Again, I feel my face getting hot again. "I don't have anything planned," I said with a big, goofy grin. "Why do you ask?"
He looks back at me smiling "Well, would you like to see a movie or something?" He asked.
"Oh," I said trying to think of the movies that were out. Honestly, nothing was out that seemed interesting to me, not that I would be focused on the movie, anyway. "What movie?"
"Well, there's that new horror one that came out. It looked kind of interesting." He said
Horror movies and I really did not mix. I get scared far too easily. "Oh," I said trying to sound excited for it. "Sure, we could see that."
He obviously saw right through me. "Or we could go out to dinner somewhere instead?" He suggested.
"That works too," I said, much more pleased with that idea. "where?"
He was smiling when he saw my enthusiasm. "Well, we could go anywhere, really. What's your favorite thing to eat?" He asked me.
"Well, I kind of have expensive taste. What's affordable that you like?" I asked giggling. I really could not control how excited I was.
"We could go to that new Japanese place downtown," he suggested. "I think it's called Shiki." He said smiling.
"Sure!!" I exclaimed a little too loud. "That sounds great!" I tried so hard to calm down
"Ha ha, alright. We'll go there then." He said laughing at my exclaims.
"Great! It's a date." As soon as I said those words, I instantly froze. I didn't mean to use the word "date." I looked up at him and he was looking at me with a small smile on his face.
"I mean," I was trying to find another word. "It's a... It... Uhm..." I was so embarrassed.
"Its a date," He said laughing. "Its alright. You don't need to be embarrassed." He told me.
I couldn't help but blush even more. At this point, I'm pretty sure I looked like a tomato. "Okay, then." I said quietly.
"I can't wait." He said flirtatiously. "Ill see you after work. You get off at 6, right?" He asked.
"Mhm." I said, trying not to speak so I wouldn't sound like an even bigger dork.
"Good, me too." He said. "Ill see you then." He winked at me and then turned to start his shift.
Now that we had plans after work, the day seemed to go on forever. I helped customers, as always, but all I could think about was our date. I must have looked ridiculous with a goofy smile on my face all day, but I really couldn't care less. I had a date with Jason and that was all I cared about. As the shift came to an end, I saw Jason walk towards my check stand. I tried to look busy.
"Hey, you." He said.
I looked up and saw his gorgeous face and incredible brown eyes looking into mine.
"Hey," I said smiling. "Did you clock out already?" I asked him.
"Yep. Just waiting on you." He said with a smile.
"Oh, okay." I said. "Let me just finish this transaction and Ill clock out as well." I said.
"Okay, no hurry." He said.
I finished up and clocked out. I grabbed my purse and turned to him. "Well, I'm ready." I said.
"Shall we?" He asked with a gesture to the door.
I nodded and started walking.
He led me to his car, opening the passenger door for me.
"Thanks." I said as I got in and watched him hurry to the driver's side door. He quickly got in, buckled his seat belt and looked at me smiling.
"I'm really glad you agreed to this date," He said. "I was kind of worried you'd reject me and that might ruin my reputation." He joked laughing.
"And what reputation is that?" I said laughing
"I'm only kidding. I couldn't care less about my reputation, honestly. But, I am glad you said you'd go with me." He said.
"Well, Im glad you asked." I said, blushing again. I swear, this guy makes me turn more red than a cherry tomato.
He smiled, started his car, and started driving. "So, what music do you listen to?" He asked.
"Oh, anything really. Im not too picky." I said.
"Do you like rock music?" He asked.
"Some, yeah. Just as long as I can understand the lyrics. I hate when all you hear is screaming." I said with a laugh.
"Yeah, that can be pretty obnoxious." He said as he inserted a Shinedown CD in the CD player. As the first song came on, he started singing along to it. I loved his voice. He sang so well. I was in complete bliss. Eventually, we got to the Japanese restaurant. He parked, killed the engine, and told me to wait there. I nodded and watched him get out of the car and hurry back to my side to let me out. As I got out, he took my hand and led me to the main entrance of the restaurant.
As we were seated, he pulled out a chair for me, scooted it back in and sat across from me, as the table was set for two. We were shortly greeted by a waitress wanting to take our drink orders. He ordered a ramune, which was a Japanese soda and I ordered a Coke. She nodded, smiled, and turned to get our drinks.
