BETTY SUE
Betty Sue Nelson hates her name. Who names their kid Betty Sue these days? Nobody. The fact she was named after her grandmother only made it worse. It was a good name in 1920, not so much in the twenty-first century. Her mother insisting on calling her Betty Sue only made it worse.
As soon as she was old enough at school, she made them start calling her Betty. It was better than nothing. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.
Her experience in high school was not good. She had only one boyfriend. The "popular" kids were not kind. She thought she was maybe an 8 on a good day, but apparently the general consensus among the other kids was a 6. She was 5'7" and 140 pounds. She had a pretty face with her brown hair ringing it. She was slightly pudgy but did have a nice set of breasts that she was proud of.
She still considered herself a virgin, even though her boyfriend had tried. He barely managed to get into her before he blew his wad. Neither of them knew much, and she wasn't impressed. That was the end of that relationship.
After high school, she started attending junior college. She needed a job and found one at Werner Enterprises. They are a large trucking company that had its headquarters in Omaha. She was hired as a receptionist. At first, she was only part-time but was smart, personable, and knew the job perfectly. It wasn't long before she was full-time and decided to wait on the college thing. The money was good.
Sally Cranston also worked at Werner as a receptionist. She was the opposite of Betty. A blonde, blue-eyed model level beauty, she was very popular at one of the other high schools in Omaha. Leader of the cheerleaders, she was a class president. She always had the most popular boy as her boyfriend.
She was working at Werner because she had a plan. Find the richest single man near the top of the company and "marry" him. She had always been able to seduce any boy growing up, and she was confident she would succeed there too.
The one thing about Sally was, she wasn't stuck up. Betty and Sally hit it off the first day they met. They became a very successful team at the receptionist desk. Men who came up to the desk were immediately drawn to Sally. Betty could then call whomever they were there to see while Sally was talking to them. They were a very effective team.
Sally was always trying to help Betty go on dates. Betty wasn't interested, but Sally kept trying. "Betty, you're prettier than those assholes at Buffett High would admit. With my tips, you can do well here. There are many single men here." Betty always declined.
They worked together for five years. Betty was happy with the job. She made enough money to get her own apartment and get out of her parent's house.
Sally was very popular and had a date whenever she wanted. However, none of the members of the board ever came in the front door, and she was getting frustrated with her inability to meet the right man. It changed when she met the manager of the equipment department. He was responsible for the 1,000 trucks and vans the company had. Things looked up for Sally. Betty was sure she would lose Sally, her only friend in the company.
The highlight of Betty's Day was when the Fed Ex driver brought packages to the desk. He came nearly every day, and he was the highlight of her day. He would always talk to Sally, but he would wink at Betty and smile at her while talking to Sally.
Sally wasn't interested in a Fed Ex driver, but she couldn't help herself. She had always flirted with nearly every man, even those she wasn't interested in.
Jimmy Osmond made good money by driving a Fed Ex truck making deliveries. He worked long hours and had no life outside of work. He did enjoy taking deliveries to Werner. The blonde at the desk was enchanting. He looked forward to her smiling face. The other girl was quiet, but he noticed she did most of the work while the blonde was talking.
Jimmy was twenty-five and very popular with the ladies when he had time. He had two days off, of course, but he had to cram everything he wanted to do in those days. Dating was hard.
Sally enjoyed the nightlife, and she always tried to get Betty to go along. She had another friend, Wanda, and the two of them went looking for a good time at least once a week. They liked having Betty with them because that gave them a driver to get them home and someone who didn't drink to keep an eye on them. They also liked Betty. She wasn't as pretty as them, but she wasn't ugly, either. Sally figured Betty was a seven with a good figure and a brown hairdo that framed her face nicely. Wanda and Sally had tried to give Betty tips, but most were ignored.
The girls asked Betty to go with them to a new nightclub that had live jazz music. She really didn't want to go, but had nothing else to do and was bored, so she agreed.
They found a table near the stage and settled in. The music was good and there were men there to keep the other two busy. It didn't take long for the two to hone in on a couple of men at the table near them. For the next couple of hours, the four of them danced and laughed. It wasn't long before they had combined their two tables and were having a great time. Betty was bored. She had seen Sally pick up dozens of men and she knew how this would end. Either she would leave with one of them, or Betty would have to take her somewhere where they could be "alone".
This time, Wanda was doing very well also, and Betty was sure she would be going home alone when Sally asked her to take them to the men's home. "Please, Betty. We like them, but we want you there to make sure we can get away. I'm sorry there wasn't anyone here for you, but please help us. We'll make it up to you, I promise."
Betty didn't really want to; go to another place to sit and wait while these two get to fuck another good-looking man. However, she had come this far and had nothing else to do but go home alone, so she agreed.
Betty followed them to a nice house in a good neighborhood. Betty was surprised. Maybe they aren't just party guys.
They made Betty comfortable in the living room and disappeared upstairs. She was alone and turned the TV on to wait it out.
About ten minutes later, she was surprised by a voice behind her. "Who, may I ask, are you?"
She turned around to find a slightly older man standing at the foot of the stairs. "My name is Betty and I'm just waiting for my friends."
"Let me guess, upstairs?" She nodded. "You're quite the sport to sit here and wait for them." He sat down near her. "My name is Chuck. Welcome to my home."
"You own this house?"
"Yes, the only thing I got from my divorce."
"So, do your friends do this often?"
"Some, yes. They are old friends, and I needed company for a while. Would you like something to drink?"
"No, I'm the designated driver."
"So, why is a pretty girl like you sitting here alone instead of finding a man yourself. I'm sure you wouldn't have any problems if you wished."
Betty liked this man. For a guy she guessed was in his forties, he was good looking with a soft face. "I don't really do that much. I'd rather find someone not in a bar."
He smiled at her. "Wise decision. Nothing good comes from alcohol-based decisions. Would you like something to eat?"
"Sure." He led her to the kitchen, and they cleaned out his refrigerator as they talked. The more she talked to him, the more she liked him. He wasn't forward or arrogant. He spoke quietly with confidence. "So, how long has it been since your divorce?"
"A year or so."
"Have you been dating?"
