Dozing on the couch, Myra was woken by her dog yipping at the front door. "So much for me time." Her hair was messy, and she hadn't showered in two days. The window was fully dark. "Fuck it."
BamBam yipped in reply.
"Sorry, pups, I look like trash." Myra wrinkled her nose. "I smell rank. I'll take you downstairs to do your thing." Standing up, she walked towards her prancing dog. "We can be back in ten. I'll feed you and take a shower. I'll make my bed and go to sleep."
Probably with the laptop playing some crap, if she was being honest. "Tomorrow, I'll get my shit together. Ok, puppups."
BamBam finished his business when he growled and barked. Smiling as he bopped about, Myra looked around. "Where's the dog you're going off at?"
No dogs were being walked. Myra's heart nearly stopped when she realised the two men walking towards her were no other than the NYE's fuckers.
Jesus fucking christ, could she look any worse. She looked so bad they probably wouldn't even look at her. Once they passed, she'd scoot back upstairs. With luck they'd only look at her stupid dog and not her.
The males stopped. "Myra?"
Fucking, fuck, fuck! Really, why now?
Her dog growled and barked at the strangers, Myra had to turn to face them. "Stefan. Jax. Hey, nice to see you."
She looked around. "Are you lost? BamBam, shush, baby."
Stefan smiled. "We thought we'd try the bibimbap at this Korean place, but by the time we found a parking space, even Google got lost." They chuckled and looked at Stefan's phone before looking back at her.
Myra had her hands full of angry peekapom, who was convinced that he could rip the throats out of the two males talking to his person. "It's okay BamBam."
Flustered at being caught at such a disadvantage and wondering if they could smell her from where they were, she smiled weakly at them. Myra shifted her dog under her arm and gestured back where they had come. "If you head back around that corner and take the third street to your left, you can't miss it."
Jax nodded. "You'd recommend it?"
Myra nodded enthusiastically. "The food is amazing, totally authentic."
Stefan smiled. "Great. Good choice, Jax."
"Tell 'em Myra sent you. They'll make it spicier if ya like. Have fun. I've got to get this fella home for his dinner. Have a great night." With that, she waved and headed back to the stairs of her building.
Suddenly Stefan was in front of her. She had to stop walking before she hit him. How the hell had he moved so fast? Myra took a step back and looked up at him. "Um, is there a problem?"
He raised an eyebrow. "You skipped out on us on new years day. Wanna share why?"
Myra bit her lip and looked at her frantic dog. He generally didn't go crazy over people, only other dogs and cats. She cuddled him as she thought about her reply. Jax and Stefan were now in front of her. Looking down at her unsmiling. She had the urge to bolt for her flat. "Well, I got the impression it was a one-night stand. Since you left, I figured I would as well." She swallowed against the lump that had formed in her throat.
Stefan narrowed his eyes at her. "You knew we were coming back."
"Plus, we asked you to stay." Jax put his hands on his hips.
Myra bit her lip. "Your chick Amelia filled me in on some details that made me feel I would not be welcome when you returned." Myra's throat started to close as she struggled not to cry. She wanted to weep. Stupid hormones.
Jax replied with a frustrated growl. "You said you'd stay, and you didn't. Also, you let someone else convince you that we were something we are not."
"Well, what was I supposed to think?" Myra choked out.
Jax's frown deepened. "You ran off rather than staying to let us tell you that my cousin, who you met, was being a smart arse."
Myra needed to get out of here. She smelt and looked awful. Her dog was going mental, and she'd fucked up badly. Myra didn't have anything left to mentally deal with this.
She looked at them in turn. "I am sorry. I didn't mean to do that. I need to go."
Myra tried to push past them, but Stefan pulled her into his arms. Jax extracted BamBam and stepped back from them.
Stefan held her gently even as she tried to wiggle out of his arms."Myra. We wanted you to stay."
Jax was trying to do the same with her dog.
"I need to go home." She gasped out. She stopped struggling. There was no point and she didn't have the energy anyway.
"Can we please talk about this?" Stefan pulled her closer.
Jax tucked BamBam under his arm like a football. "Myra, please, we need to talk to you."
Myra slumped into Stefan and tried to breathe. Breathing was the only thing keeping her together.
Stefan stroked his large hand from the top of her head to her bottom. She lost it. Sagging into his chest, she cried ugly tears that no one ever wants to share with another person. Let alone with two strangers.
Myra sobbed in Stefan's arms. He kissed the top of her head and ran his hands up and down her back.
"It's ok, Myra. It's ok." He soothed her softly.
Jax moved closer, he'd settled BamBam. He wrapped himself around her back. "Do you want your dog?"
Myra nodded. "Please."
Jax manoeuvred BamBam into her chest. Myra held onto him, and Jax moved to hold onto Myra instead.
"We don't want to upset you, Myra. We want to talk to you." Jax whispered.
After a few minutes, her sobs quieted. She whispered huskily. "I need to go home."
Stefan leaned in. "Okay. We'll take you home and get you some dinner."
Myra was too tired and wrung out to push them away. "Fine." She whispered, wiping her face with her sleeve. Gross, but what else could she do? Myra untangled herself and pulled out her door keycard. "This is my building."
Stefan and Jax followed her as she walked up the stairs and opened the outer door to the building. They remained close as she led them into the elevator and her studio apartment.
Stefan pushed Myra towards her bathroom. "Shower and change. You'll feel better once you've done that."
Myra nodded.
Stefan smiled kindly at her. "You can feed your dog after that."
Myra walked to her bathroom, BamBam trailing her. She stopped at her wardrobe and collected some clean clothes. Moved to the bathroom, her dog never far behind her.
She stripped off and stepped under the hot water. "I'm going to clean up, and then I'll feed you ok. I'm sorry fluffy puff. Mummy is not doing so well right now."

Jax sat on the couch and looked around. The place was untidy, and smelt a bit funky. He looked over his shoulder at Stefan as the shower turned on. "You good?"
Stefan looked at the dirty coffee table and kitchenette in horror. "This place is a mess."
Jax pushed off the couch. "How's about we clean up as we wait. I think you won't be able to concentrate until this place is tidier."
Stefan nodded and started clearing the sink. "Sure, it won't take long. Something is wrong."
