Christian stared at the glowing cursor blinking on the screen. The very blank screen.
The words just weren't coming.
It had been days since he'd made any real progress, and no matter how many times he'd gone over the outline or reworked the plot, everything seemed to fall flat. The pressure of a deadline was weighing on him, but that only made it harder to focus.
He rubbed his temples and sighed.
The door creaked open, and Elizabeth stepped inside, her smell of her perfume filling the room and making him smile. He spun around in his office chair and enjoyed the site of his wife. She wore a soft, dark sweater and a pair of jeans, but it was the necklace around her neck that caught his attention. Or rather, the shiny gold key hanging from it.
"Still stuck?" Her voice was soft, but there was a playful edge to it. She leaned against the doorframe, her gaze fixed on him.
"Yeah," Christian admitted, pulling his eyes up to meet hers and slumping in his chair. "I don't know what happened. I thought I had this figured out, but now it feels like I've painted myself into a corner."
Elizabeth stepped into the room, her heels clicking on the hardwood floor. She gently brushing a stray piece of hair from her face and sat on his lap, looping her arms around his neck. "Well, maybe you just need a break."
She gave him a quick kiss, then leaned forward so her lips were right next to his ear. "And a little motivation."
Christian raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. "Motivation?"
Elizabeth's smile curled upward, and she pulled back so that she was eye level with him, her fingers tracing the edge of the desk. "I think you're just missing the right kind of incentive," she said, her voice light but with a certain suggestiveness. "I know how hard you've been working baby. Why don't you go and take a shower to relax? I'll join you in a minute."
"Or we could do something that will make us need a shower first," he said with a grin.
She laughed, shaking her head. "Nice try."
"But-"
"Go take a shower," she stood up. "I'll join you shortly."
She kissed his forehead and then walked out. He couldn't help but admire the sway of her ass as she left.
With a sigh, he took one last look at the blank page behind him, then shrugged and headed to the bathroom.
The warm water felt good, and the tension from sitting in front of the computer for the last hour started to melt. A minute later, he heard the door open behind him.
"Eyes ahead," Elizabeth said her voice low and soft. She set something on the tile in the shower before stepping in and closing the door.
"Yes ma'am," he replied.
"You know whats coming?"
The image of the key hanging from her neck flashed through his head.
