"Come in." I told whoever was on the other side of my door that had just knocked. I heard them come in and looked up from my finance reports. I was disappointed to see a very sad looking Yua coming in. I took a peek at the time and knew exactly what this was about.
"I'm sorry Master." She closed the door and looked down at the floor.
"What happened Yua?" My voice was stern.
"It was an accident. I was completing my edging for the day and came. I ruined it right away!" She made sure to rush out the last bit in the hopes that it would award her some leniency.
"I will submit your two weeks paid leave from work. Harold will drive you home tonight."
"No, please sir! I didn't mean to!" She tried to beg. Tears were pooling in her eyes. I knew it was an accident. Part of me did feel bad that she must be punished but the rules were the rules. I called Yua over into my lap. She sat down with hope in her eyes that I would change my mind.
"Yua, you know the rules. There can be no exceptions." I told her up front that my mind would not be changing.
"But sir..."
"You agreed to this Yua..." She hung her head in shame. I thought back to three years ago when Yua joined my harem.
- Three Years Ago -
I looked at my schedule to see what my next appointment was. I don't know how I missed it this morning when I was looking over the list of meetings, but next was an appointment with Yua, and her husband? I sighed figuring this was going to be another meeting about how my secretary was quitting. I don't know what her husband had to do with it though.
Unfortunately, my lifestyle caused me to run through many secretaries. As my personal assistant they were in charge of scheduling everything in my life. Therefore, they were aware of my lifestyle, and all the women that were a part of it. Some of them stuck it out for a while since the pay was good, but Yua was my fourth secretary in two years so far. I sighed again figuring that I should get it over with. I pushed the button to my desk intercom.
"Mrs. Takahashi, can you please send in my next appointment?" Her voice entered into the intercom saying that they would be in soon. I took the time to put away some of my papers, and to figure out where my checkbook was. Just in case hush money needed to be paid. The door opened and Yua came in, a man who I assumed to be her husband following behind her. They both sat down in a chair clearly uncomfortable.
"What can I do for you two?" I asked to remain friendly.
"I'm sorry to bother you when you are so busy with work Mr. Hill." Yua's husband spoke up.
"Nonsense, as long as this isn't a waste of my time." I told him. I just wanted to warn him to be quick about whatever he was going to say.
"I'm not sure how to tell you this..." He trailed off losing his nerve. I'm sure he just didn't want to be disrespectful to a man that he knew could crush him without a second thought. He took a deep breath then burst out what he wanted to say.
"I cannot care for my wife any longer!" The room fell silent. I was in shock. What the hell did he mean? Was he sick, and he was trying to ask for a raise for his wife? I didn't understand.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Takahashi, I don't understand."
"I am sure this is quite a shock to you Mr. Hill." Yua took over looking just as nervous as her husband. "For the past six months I have been in charge of managing the delicate nature of your lifestyle." This conversation was starting to go in the direction I originally thought it was going.
"Mrs. Takahashi, if you are asking to leave the company..."
"No!" She seemed frightened by the mere mention of this. "That is not what we are saying sir. My husband and I are in an arranged marriage set up by our parents. We care for one another, and we don't want to divorce, but Asahi and I are not compatible. I have been very satisfied with working here sir, and I would like my employment to expand further." I was shell shocked. I looked between the two of them. They looked at one another nervously, then at me.
"I have to say I am very shocked, Mrs. Takahashi. I do want to continue this conversation, but can you please excuse me for a few moments. I have to make some calls."
