Since the age of fourteen, Heather had been one of the maids at Lord James Montgomery's opulent estate. Her duties were primarily cleaning and some light cooking, and to assist the many other maids and butlers working at this rich man's mansion. Heather had no family and very few options, so it was with no small measure of gratitude that she had accepted this position. She worked hard, but all of her needs were met: she was provided with free lodging in the guest house with the other servants, and she was given food to prepare for herself, clothing, and even a very modest allowance for any other needs.
Lord Montgomery was quite a socialite, always entertaining in his well-appointed dance and music halls, lavishly decorated with paintings, tapestries, and mirrors. He was known for his fine taste, and also for his passion for women. Aside from his army of servants, he employed a dozen women to meet his sexual needs, and to use as entertainment at his parties. Sometimes this meant the women were locked in gilded cages placed throughout the estate, their naked bodies to be enjoyed as if artwork. One especially well-attended party, Lord Montgomery had one of his girls stand naked in the cage right outside the front door, so the guests would have something to admire before coming in. Even the carriage drivers were able to enjoy her soft, naked little body.
Sometimes the women were there to service the men at the parties in any way they wished. Some would be positioned throughout the party on a couch or bed, secured with cuffs and chains, for any man to take. Some would be assigned to bedrooms, their only task to satisfy the overnight guest staying in that room. Heather always wondered what these women's lives were like, and whether they ever enjoyed their jobs. As she cleaned the hallways near these bedrooms, she would often hear the women moaning as the beds heaved and creaked, the headboard banging into the wall with each frenzied thrust. She secretly admired the women, although could not imagine herself doing such a thing.
It was shortly after her 19th birthday that Heather's job began to change. She was cleaning beneath a particularly valuable vase, and accidentally knocked it over, breaking it into millions of tiny pieces. She was brought by the head butler, John Marshall, to Lord Montgomery, who was in his office. The butler told him about the vase and left the room, the door clicking quietly behind him. Lord Montgomery regarded Heather closely. "That was a very, very expensive vase you broke. It meant a great deal to me," he said angrily. "What have you to say for yourself?" Heather looked at the floor. "I'm sorry, sir," she offered meekly. Montgomery walked around her, inspecting her, and finally spoke: "Well, you're not a very good maid, obviously, so I shall have to let you go."
