Chapter 1
As she stepped into the room, darkness engulfed her, black velvet darkness without a hint of light. She move into the shadows, carefully making her way across the room, laying her coat on the chair as she reached for the lamp, needing the light to chase away the shadows. "Where is that switch?" She wondered aloud, running her hand over the nightstand top, a low growl of frustration crossing her lips. "Ha found it!" She clicked the light and sighed when nothing happened. "Crap blown again, I have really got to get a new lamp tomorrow."
She shrugs and turns to head back to living room when a small sound echoes through the room. She stops dead in her tracks and looks around, trying to detect what made the sound. Seeing nothing moving she shakes her head muttering, "Gotta quit watching those horror movies at night, I'm starting to jump at shadows." And heads into the living room.
Flopping on the couch she grabs the remote and smiles as the first notes of one of her favorite songs fill the room. "Your favorite drug, right on, love this song!" She laughs, "Something to keep my mind off just how empty this house is now." She looks around, still not able to shake the feeling that something is just a little bit off, like someone is watching her. "Stupid!" She mutters shaking her head again "No body here but me."
She lays back on the couch, ready to relax after a long day at work, when she is plunged into darkness and silence. "You have got to be kidding me!" She yells as she looks up at the ceiling, "what did I do to piss off the universe tonight geeze." She swings her legs off the couch and stands up trying to remember where she last left the flashlight. "Ok just a breaker I'm sure, no prob, just go flip it then I can finally get some damn peace." Muttering to herself as she heads for the kitchen and the fuse box. Crack! "Ouch!" She bites her lip to keep from swearing as her knee throbs where it met the coffee table. "Ok this is so not my night."
Once in the kitchen she fumbles her way to the fuse box and flips the breakers. Nothing. "Well son of a bitch!" Thinking the power might be out she reaches for the phone on the counter. "What the........" in the place of the phone is a soft piece of what feels like leather. Looking around and starting to get really freaked out, she shivers a bit and finally decides it might be a good night to find a motel. She turns and slowly moves back toward the living room where her purse and car keys are waiting.
Carefully avoiding the coffee table from hell she scoops up her purse and looks for her keys for a few moments before she realizes where they are. The mental image flashes through her head of placing the keys in her coat pocket and then laying the coat on the chair in the bedroom. She looks down the dark hallway toward the open bedroom door.
"Ok I will just run down there grab the coat and run back out... there is nothing there in the dark that isn't there in the light." She looks again down the hall and takes a deep breath. "Ok yeah I'm so not running in my own house, this is so stupid!" For some reason the sound of her own voice in the emptiness of the room is oddly reassuring. She starts moving slowly toward the bedroom door. "Lalala it's just a small black out, nothing to worry about, no point in being scared of the dark, I'm not 5." She stops for a moment in front of the door and takes another deep breath, then steps into the darkness within the room. "See nothing jumped out at you, damn I feel stupid now." At this last comment a soft laugh and warm breath caress her ear as a hand swoops down to cover her mouth.
She tries to suck in a breath but the gloved hand over her face keeps her from taking one. She starts to shake, panic taking over. Another hand softly caresses her hair
" Hush little one, and relax, you will enjoy it a lot more if you do." a mans deep voice growls in her ear, as the hand moves to cover only her mouth allowing her to once again draw a breath.
"Fight, run, do something!" her mind screams at her, but her body refuses to answer.
"I'm going to remove my hand scream and you will be punished, do you understand?" the voice growls once more. She gives a slight nod to scared to do much more.
As the hand is removed she takes a deep breath, knowing if she screams loud enough the neighbors will hear here and damn if she was going to let this psycho do whatever he had planned for her. Feeling the scream build up, she manages only a small squeak before her hair is grabbed in a tight grip and a hand closes around her throat.
"I told you not to scream!" The voice is harsher now, as the hand gripping her hair forces her to her knees. "P...p..please don't hurt me." she whimpers. But the hand in her hair only tightens its grip
"Be a good girl and put your hands above your head." She tries to turn her head to catch a glimpse of the stranger, only to have her head pulls back farther. "Now!" This one word spoken with more authority then she has ever heard in her life. Deciding that maybe if she does what he says he will not hurt her she reluctantly lifts her arms up.
Soft leather closes around one wrist then the other, "Such a good girl." The voice whispers. The hand gripping her hair pulls her upwards back onto her feet. Confusion takes over for a moment before the realization dawns on her that he had just cuffed her wrists together.
She lets her arms fall in front of her, the rattling chain loud over the rapid beating of her heart. "W..Why?" she asks in a shaking voice.
"Why, because I can, and because you will in the end beg for what I will give you." The voice whispers in her ear as sharp teeth nip at the sensitive lobe.
She shivers a combination of fear and a sick kind of pleasure that frightens her more then the man in the room with her. She whispers, "No." He laughs as he snakes an arm around her waist and pulls her hard against his body. His hand reaching up to pinch her nipple through the thin silk of her shirt. She jumps and bats at his hands with hers. "Don't touch me!" She snaps, knowing the second those words crosses her lips that she was in more trouble then she had ever thought possible.
