Sean pulled a seat up at the hotel bar and put his suitcase to one side. It'd been a long day and the only thing on his mind was a cold pint of Guinness.
The place was empty. There appeared to be no formal reception at this small establishment in this backwater part of the country known as Peterhead. He didn't care about that right now though. He'd ask for his room key later. All that mattered was to drown away the stresses of the day with the first gulp of a pint.
He'd driven up here early in the morning from his parents' house in Glasgow where he lived. He was working on a construction site nearby doing ground testing on the extension of the port. He had the next day off so could enjoy a few drinks tonight.
He enjoyed his job a lot. It allowed him to travel around Scotland to work, stay and explore places he'd only ever seen on a map. His company had recently landed a new contract with a client up here. He agreed to come up to work and stay from Monday until Friday for the next 6 months until the contract concluded.
He agreed to this partly to get time away from his parents. As much as he loved them, he valued the peace and space to himself he got when staying away from home. Here he wouldn't have to listen to his mums' invasive questions about his personal life, like asking him if he had a girlfriend yet or if he may be liked boys instead. He scoffed at the thought again.
He was 22 and had been single all his life and was still a virgin. He always struggled with dating. He didn't have any brothers or sisters and only made friends with other guys growing up. He tried asking out girls in high-school and college and was only ever met with the same disappointing
I don't see you in that way
reply. Or some would downright laugh and her friends would make fun of him. Also being a mere 5 foot 7 he felt like he had no chance with most women.
He also loved dominant women. Something about a woman in charge just made him burst with excitement and pleasure. It'd been a desire of his from as long as he could remember. His fantasy was to be a husband in a female led marriage. To be his wife's willing slave serving and honouring her with all his body and strength. Though it was hopeless, given that the vast majority of women in reality wanted a dominant man, never mind him not being able to get a single date in the first place.
He was sad. He felt like he was going to be single forever. He focused his attention to the bar again, wanting that pint more than ever.
He heard sounds from the kitchen through its open door to the bar. He figured to wait until someone showed up rather than be rude and call.
The minutes went by and no one came. He tilted in his stool slightly to see better into the kitchen. From this new perspective, he saw a woman at the far side at a sink wearing an apron and washing dishes. She looked young. Perhaps his age or a couple years younger.
She was pretty. She had long brown hair tied in a ponytail with a beautiful pink scrunchy. She wore jeans and a black My Chemical Romance t shirt under her apron.
He went silent as he did when he saw a lovely woman. He didn't have the courage to call over to her about service. He just continued to sit awkwardly until she or another member of staff saw him.
"You alright?" A voice from behind him asked.
He turned around to see another woman standing and looking at him inquisitively. She looked to be in her 30s, was around 5 foot 10, wore tight black leather trousers, high heel calf boots and a red turtleneck tucked into the jeans under a large white winter jacket. She had shoulder length hair dyed blonde, and blue eyes. She wore light mascara and distinct red lipstick.
Damn, She's hot!
Thought Sean. What a pleasure it was to see 2 beautiful women within such a short space of time. He immediately cast his gaze downwards blushing in reverence of her beauty.
"Oh, aye, yeah! Um, I'm just waiting to see if the bar is open." He replied.
She looked back at him with her expression unchanged.
"The bar isn't open for another half an hour."
"Oh."
"Are you a guest? Would you like to check in?"
"Oh, yeah! How did you know!?" Replied Sean startled.
The woman put down her coat on the stool next to him then began to walk past him to the end of the bar. Her high heels echoing off the wooden floor with every step.
"There's only you and one other person staying here tonight." She said.
She turned at the end of the bar then walked behind it. She went to the wall next to the upturned spirit bottles where a handful of keys hung.
"Are you Sean Davis?" She asked.
"Yeah."
She lifted one of the sets of keys from the hooks and handed it to him.
"You're room 4. It's out the door there and up the stairs then on the left. Breakfast is seven until nine thirty. Your room is the grey key and the gold one is for the front door. If you're going out tonight, can I ask you to be as quiet as possible if you're coming back in after half ten?"
"Y-yes, of course." He replied bashfully. "Thanks a lot."
"Perfect."
She could see he was shy and wanted to make him feel more at home. She smiled at him and spoke.
"I'm Fiona by the way."
"L-lovely to meet you." He replied. "I'm Sean."
"Would you like a drink just now?" She asked. "I know I said the bar isn't open yet officially but It's no bother."
"Yeah, that'd be nice of you, just a Guinness thanks."
She pulled out a fresh glass from under the bar and began pouring from the tap.
"What brings you to this part of the world?"
"Well, I work as a field-testing technician on construction sites. I've been sent here by my company to assist the engineers with the port extension site down the road. I'll be here all week."
"Oh aye, I seen that they've been doing something down there for a while. Do you have a car or van with you?" She asked.
"Yeah, my work van."
"Did you find the car park okay? It's around the back. Some folk just park out the front and it's a narrow street you see. Get complaints from the neighbours all the time"
"Yeah, I saw it and parked there, thanks."
She finished pouring then sat his pint on the bar in front of him. He knew better than to not let a freshly poured Guinness settle before taking the first sip. He looked up at her and saw her smile at him warmly. He smiled back awkwardly. He reached into his trouser pockets for his wallet.
"So, uh- Fiona. Are you the manager here...Or- "
"I'm the owner." She replied. "And don't you worry about paying just now, I'll just start you a wee tab."
"Oh, okay..Uh, thanks!"
"So where is it you came from today?"
"Uh, I came from Glasgow this morning."
"Oh right, I've not been down to Glasgow for a while." She said." Nice place, but I prefer life up here. Nice and quiet. Even if business can be slow at times."
The pint had now settled and was calling his name. He grabbed a hold of it and took a long swing with the first gulp then landed it back on the bar with an exhale of delight. It was magical. Fiona smiled back at him mischievously.
"Do you drink a lot, Sean?"
"Oh, well not really no. Only maybe when I'm out for dinner with my mum and dad or at a function. I'm not really one for drinking during the week but it's just been a long day and it's what I fancied."
"Oh I'm very much the same. When I was your age, I had my fair share of drinking and partying mind you but now it's only once in a blue moon. Can't run this place being pished hahah."
Sean chuckled back at her joke accordingly to avoid being awkward.
When I was your age?
He thought. Just
how much older than him was she?
He was curious but didn't want to come across as rude.
"You can't be much older than me though, can you?" asked Sean.
