It was Wednesday evening, and Ed hadn't heard from Daisy since that last message on Saturday. He'd just gotten in from work when he heard his phone buzz. It was Daisy.
"Hi Ed, would I be okay to come over tonight for dinner? I could use the company."
"Of course.", he replied, "What do you want for dinner?"
"I'll bring Chinese"
"Excellent. Give me a shout when you're outside, I'll buzz you in."
Ed quickly jumped in the shower, and changed into a nicer set of clothes, he didn't want to blow this and he was hoping to be able to give her, 'the full experience' tonight.
A couple of hours had passed, and Ed was starting to worry a little. He was about the message her again when she buzzed his flat. He buzzed her in and greeted her at the door. She gave him a big hug on her way in. He felt a tear hit the skin on his neck. He realised at that moment that he probably wasn't getting unlocked tonight. He took her through to the main room as she wiped away a couple of tears from her face. It was an open plan kind of arrangement, with a combined living room & kitchen.
"How's your dad?" Ed asked.
"Stable. He's improved a lot since Saturday, and I'm hoping he'll be okay, but it's been a difficult week.
"Of course, hopefully he'll be okay."
"You don't mind plating up do you, you know where everything is obviously." she said whilst handing him the bag of Chinese food.
"Not a problem", he said, and gestured for her to take a seat on the sofa in front of the TV. She switched it to a music channel and put it on quiet.
"So what's wrong with him then if you don't mind me asking."
"They're not sure yet, they think it's some kind of infection but are still running tests. The antibiotics appear to have helped though. Thank you for letting me come over, I've been really stressed. To be honest based on your message I thought you were angry at me and would just end it."
