"I told you not to follow me." She screamed with pain and tears, as I stood with my head against the door, scared and broken-hearted for her.
I was begging her to come out or let me in. I could not leave her alone in such a state. She just had a heart-wrenching conversation with her father, which, like always, did not end very well.
She had turned so angry that she had to leave and rent a room in a hotel far from them. That was not why we went to visit them.
For once she wanted to spend a good time with her family, but somehow they always broke her wishes along with her heart.
"Please, don't do this. Let me in!" I begged, minding my tone. I did not wish to cause another scene for her to handle.
"Go away!" She shouted again as a response and a clattering sound of things falling echoed after.
Things were escalating faster than before. Something was different this time!
"Please! You're scaring me! Let me in!" I continued, timid in my soul. I knew what she was capable of. She could harm herself in such a situation.
"I won't leave. No matter what you say. You have to let me in!" I continued, wishing for the door to unbolt as quickly as it could.
But she did not open it until I faked my departure. I had to fake my footsteps leaving her and seal my lips tight while I hid myself beside the door, glued against the wall.
That was my only chance, and I quickly took it as she opened the door to check if I was gone.
I grasped her and carefully pushed her inside, quickly locking the door after.
"Why didn't you leave?" She screamed, her eyes red and full of tears, her lips parched and her body unstable as she released herself from my grasp and pushed me toward the bed.
"How could I leave you?" I answered, as I scanned the room and found the bottle of the liquor broken on the floor, while she was pacing back and forth before me, troubled.
It scared me. What if she had done something with those broken pieces of glass?
"You need to listen to me," I added, as I carefully began trying to reach her. "Calm down!"
